US VS UK VS Germany

This post is for all Jeaniene Frost fans out there, and those to come!

US-UK-Germany

Ive learned something about the Jeaniene Frost covers, you have to look twice in order to love them. At first they don't captivate you, but the second time around you notice it's many features and how they represent the character and theme of the story so well. At first sight is a girl with a purpose, a girl who wouldn't think twice about using that little dagger and thrusting it into your heart.

While on the second one you see the same girl, but in this one she has grown up a bit don't you think? The motorcycle may be a sign of running away, but away from what? And who is that hottie on the back?

I could only find these two books with UK covers, so I will be grading them separately since they have more of a competition.

The German cover for Halfway to the Grave doesn't impress me though it is pretty in it's own way, and to tell you the truth I don't like the lettering on the UK cover. Yes, the best cover of Halfway to the Grave, in my opinion, is the US cover. I like it's attitude, and it represents Cat very well.

On One Foot in the Grave I am torn. I like the German cover, which this time around demands more attention than in it's previous installment, as much as I like the UK cover, mainly because the UK cover is hosting some specific hottie we, Night Huntress Fans, all love. The US cover wins it with me, but I think it would have been better with the hottie on the back. Then why not choose the UK cover? Because I don't like the background; it messes everything out for me. What can I say... I am picky with my covers.

Germany (Very good, but it doesn't captivate the essence of Cat as well as I'd like)

US-Germany

I like them both. The US one is awesome. It's tough and edgy. A perfect Cat, though I still favor the suggestion of having Scarlet Johanson play Cat in any movie role lol But I also like the German one because I like it's color, the pose of the model, and the sentiment that the model shows. Still, having read the series I vote for the US cover. SUE ME!!

Who am I even kidding, the last two are the same. The US wins because its represents the series better than the German covers do, even though the German covers are gorgeous (specifically the First Drops of Crimson one) they don't embody the series better than the US covers do.

What do you think?

  5. Love this post! And I totally agree with your thoughts on the German covers - they're gorgeous but they don't necessarily capture the essence of the book.

  6. The German covers are pretty but they are very general, they could be a cover for any book really. The US covers are more tailored to the story which I really like. I don't like the text on the UK covers.

I think I pick the US covers, though the German cover for First Drop of Crimson is very pretty.

  7. I haven't read any book in this series, and I like the German covers the best. I agree with Sandy, though, that the German covers are more general and don't tell much about the story, except that the main character is a woman and that the genre is urban fantasy.
