The Ghost Craze!

Spooky Things are Hiding In Plain Sight...
And I'm not Talking about Vampire!

"Mary Lindsey's SHATTERED SOULS, a dark and dangerous forbidden love story about a Speaker who helps lingering ghosts pass to the spirit world and the Protector who has pledged to serve her, to Jill Santopolo at Philomel, by Ammi-Joan Paquette of Erin Murphy Literary Agency (World)."
"Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story. . .
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
And she, for whatever reason, spares his life."

"Violet Willoughby doesn't believe in ghosts. But they believe in her. After spending years participating in her mother's elaborate ruse as a fraudulent medium, Violet is about as skeptical as they come in all matters supernatural. Now that she is being visited by a very persistent ghost, one who suffered a violent death, Violet can no longer ignore her unique ability. She must figure out what this ghost is trying to communicate, and quickly because the killer is still on the loose.
Afraid of ruining her chance to escape her mother's scheming through an advantageous marriage, Violet must keep her ability secret. The only person who can help her is Colin, a friend she's known since childhood, and whom she has grown to love. He understands the true Violet, but helping her on this path means they might never be together. Can Violet find a way to help this ghost without ruining her own chance at a future free of lies?"

"The New York Times bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely series delivers her first novel for adults, a story about the living, the dead, and a curse that binds them.

Rebekkah Barrow never forgot the tender attention her grandmother, Maylene, bestowed upon the dead of Claysville, the town where Bek spent her adolescence. There wasn’t a funeral that Maylene didn’t attend, and at each Rebekkah watched as Maylene performed the same unusual ritual: three sips from a small silver flask followed by the words “Sleep well, and stay where I put you.”
Now Maylene is dead and Bek must go back to the place—and the man—she left a decade ago. But what she soon discovers is that Maylene was murdered and that there was good reason for her odd traditions. It turns out that in placid Claysville, the worlds of the living and the dead are dangerously connected. Beneath the town lies a shadowy, lawless land ruled by the enigmatic Charles, aka Mr. D—a place from which the dead will return if their graves are not properly minded. Only the Graveminder, a Barrow woman, and the current Undertaker, Byron, can set things to right once the dead begin to walk."

"Can there truly be love after death?
Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no recollection of her past life—or her actual death—she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river. As a ghost, she can do nothing but will him to live. Yet in an unforgettable moment of connection, she helps him survive.
Amelia and Joshua grow ever closer as they begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death and the secrets of the dark river that held her captive for so long. But even while they struggle to keep their bond hidden from the living world, a frightening spirit named Eli is doing everything in his power to destroy their newfound happiness and drag Amelia back into the ghost world . . . forever.
Thrilling and evocative, with moments of pure pleasure, Hereafter is a sensation you won't want to miss."

I know two of these authors! Melissa Marr (Wicked Lovely) and Alyxandra Harvey (The Drake Chronicles). I am so very curious as to how they will tackle the ghost scenario. And the summaries? I mean, the Heverafter summary is to die for. Anna Dressed in Blood is creeeppy which makes it ten times as awesome, and Shattered Souls is a forbidden love ghost story. You gotta love it.

Oh and they all have AMAZING covers! My favorite would have to be between Anna Dressed in Blood, Shattered Souls, and Haunting Violet. Pwetty!

Which is your favorite? Which one/ones are you looking forward too? Are you going to add these titles into your TBR pile?

PS; comment here and get an extra entry in my Goodbye 2010 contest =]

  2. Thanks for introducing us to some wonderful upcoming ghost stories. Ghosts seem to have gotten the short end of the stick with the vampire/werewolf/zombie craze.

  4. That new Melissa Marr book looks amazing! I haven't seen it anywhere else, can't imagine why. Is she killing them? Putting their souls to rest? Definitely on my wishlist now. Thanks for the heads-up!

  9. These wil all be going on my wishlist, which is already really long and it's still only january.

My favourite covers are Shattered Souls and Anna Dressed in Blood. The Anna cover would be my absolute favourite, but I don't like her hair.
The rest of the cover looks like it could be a drawing or a b&w photo, but the hair makes it obvious it's not a photo.

  10. I'm sure my favorite book will be Graveminder because Melissa Marr has such an imagination. She's lived a different life so she has a different perspective on things. I totally envy her.

However as far as covers and premises go, Anna Dressed in Blood is so awesome. What a great grouping of upcoming books! I cannot wait for all of them to come out. I love ghost stories and the last really good one I read was Ruined by Paula Morris. I wish she'd write another one.

  15. +1 for the contest :)

I've stayed away from ghosts ever since reading Her Fearful Symmetry because I really thought that book was awful. I added Shattered Souls and Haunting Violet to my to-read list though. Will give them a chance.

  17. The cover for Hereafter is gorgeous. I haven't read many ghost novels yet, but I'm hoping to start a few after I lessen the load of my TBR pile. All of these books will probably make it heavier, though. Not that I mind. : )

  20. Wanted you to check out the cover of the paper back cover of The Splendor Falls, by Rosemary Clement Moore. It's a ghost story and could rival these covers. It's available now!
