The Hunger Games News: First Footage at VMAs, and now also at Bloody Bookaholic

You all watched it hopefully, I know I did. I watched LIL WAYNE in order to watch this footage, no one can say I'm not committed.

I thought it was exciting. I was having a dinner party when the VMAs were going on and so when the footage started I just immediately shut everybody up, and flew over to the front of the T.V. People thought I was insane, but I don't care! I hadn't been this excited ever since the Harry Potter trailers. Then, it started.

I saw Katniss in action! I thought she was phenomenal! I mean, the footage wasn't that much, or that long even, but it's not exactly a REAL ass trailer. It's just a bit of footage. I wanted some Peeta, Gale and Haymitch, but it was good enough for now.

Did you guys see the part of the book where the trees in the arena caught fire?! I saw that and I was like screaming my ass off in delight. I CAN'T WAIT.

What did you think about it, guys and girls? What did it left out that you really wanted to see? Was it all you thought it would be, and more?

PS; Remember to go ahead and "like" Bloody Bookaholic at our Facebook Page!

Glow: The Mission (by Amy K. Ryan); A Facebook Mini Game!

So who is excited about the release of Glow? I know I am! It's supposed to be all kinds of awesome. In fact, I might just do a contest for it over here soon...

Anyways, as I was saying, excited about Glow and all. So the other day I was minding my own business around Facebook (well mine and other people's business) when I came across a pretty page. It had a mini game thing that's all about Glow!

Basically you answer some questions and then you get sorted into a ship. Some questions are pretty standard, while others are really random (I liked those). BUT it doesn't stop just there! Then you have more "missions" and stuff in order to get more points for your ship. It's pretty cool, even though I'm currently on the losing side of the game. No worries! I shall get more points dear ship and take us to victory! Even if I have to bust some heads while at it...

Check. It. Out. I don't even know if my ship is good cause I have yet to read Glow, but it's fun and it gets you pumped for the novel! I am liking this new trend of making mini games to promote the book.

Go nuts, and I hope you get put in my ship! The residents at The Empyrean need some good mates!

Waiting on Wednesday: Covers with Squiggly Lines Edition

 Unraveling Isobel
Unraveling Isobel by Eileen Cook
Hardcover, 256 pages
Expected publication: January 3rd 2012
by Simon Pulse
Isobel’s life is falling apart. Her mom just married some guy she met on the internet only three months before, and is moving them to his sprawling, gothic mansion off the coast of nowhere. Goodbye, best friend. Goodbye, social life. Hello, icky new stepfather, crunchy granola town, and unbelievably good-looking, officially off-limits stepbrother.
But on her first night in her new home, Isobel starts to fear that it isn’t only her life that’s unraveling—her sanity might be giving way too. Because either Isobel is losing her mind, just like her artist father did before her, or she’s seeing ghosts. Either way, Isobel’s fast on her way to being the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.
They all have squiggly lines! My favorite is Someone Else's Life. They are all coming out on 2012 O.o Is it a new trend for next year? No more pretty girls in pretty dresses? That one never gets old with me, I love all those covers, but this new trend is easy on the eyes as well. Must put on wishlist!

Bookish Question

Is it easy for you to start new series?
Or even a new stand alone novel?

I find it quite difficult to leave a world behind. When I finish a novel, and I'm very into it, It's hard to believe that the next novel is going to be as good. Or that the new characters are going to make me fall in love like the others did. Or that the twists will be as good. So I post pone starting new books. I go about my day. I continue watching whatever it was I was watching on T.V. Take the control remote and look for HGTV. Guilty as charged. But once I get over my old book, and start a new fantastic novel there is nothing that can take me away from those pages. The characters seem bright and new. I take those twists and ride the wave. However, after it finishes I'm once again on step one. Sad because my last book ended, about to embark on yet another relationship. Not ever knowing if it's going to be as good as the one before.

Why doesn't everybody read? It's such a fantastic experience!

The Potter Games- Harry Potter and The Hunger Games Combined!

I just played this fan made game which combines the Harry Potter characters with a Hunger Games type of story line and I got to tell you it's bloody genius!

This is basically how it goes:

Lord Voldermort is somehow ruler of the world and he has taken kids away from their homes and thrown them into the games. You have 22 tributes to choose from, and each tribute has his, or her, unique story line. I myself being a fan of Harry choose him as my tribute and started "the games". It's so cool cause how the game goes is that you choose which path you want your character to take, either you can flee or fight for the goodies, you get to choose where to go, etc. It's an interactive story. Each path comes with it's unique story line and you get to read and play! But be careful with which path you choose because if you choose the wrong one... well, you die.

The list of tributes goes as follow:

Harry Potter
Hermione Granger
Ron Weasley
Ginny Weasley
Fred Weasley
George Weasly
Neville Longbottom
Draco Malfoy
Vincent Crabbe
Gregory Goyle
Pansy Parkinson
Hannah Abbott
Colin Creevey
Lavender Brown
Viktor Krum
Fleur Delacour
Cho Chan
Cedric Diggory
Parvati Patil
Padma Patil
Katie Bell
Cormac McLaggen

If you go to their official facebook page (The Potter Games Facebook Page) and click on their album you will find more information on the characters, including who their mentors are. In the Potter Games official website you can start to play and there you will find the weaknesses and streghts of each character. But if you are a fan like me you will probably go through each character one by one lol

I have to say, the end of Harry's story made me tear up, both ends. They are so bitter sweet. I already did Harry so next I think I'll do Hermione.

Once you are finished with characters and stuff let me know which story lines rock and which dont. Can't wait to see how you guys like the game!

Movie News: Paranormalcy by Kiersten White Is Being Turned into a Movie

No, I am not lying to you. Yes I'm sure. Very Sure. Kiersten said it herself at her Facebook. I have proof!

Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1)

Musicvid helmer gets 'Paranormalcy'
Director of Bieber's 'Baby,' Gaga's 'Poker Face' making feature debut

EXCLUSIVE: Musicvid director Ray Kay, whose credits include Justin Bieber's "Baby" and Lady Gaga's "Poker Face," is set to make his feature directorial debut on the supernatural thriller "Paranormalcy," which Mitch Klebanoff is adapting from the novel by Kiertsen White.

Gil Adler Productions and Reverie Entertainment Partners optioned the book prior to its publication by Harper Collins. Story follows a teen who works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency and discovers she may be at the center of a dark prophecy predicting the destruction of all paranormal creatures.
Gil Adler will produce along with Brian Espinosa, John Ryan Jr. and Chris Farrell, who will produce through Reverie. Jeannette Adler is co-producing.

Klebanoff's past credits include "Beverly Hills Ninja" and "Disorderlies."
Kay and Klebanoff are both repped by Reverie.

What is up with making YA paranormal books into movies? Everybody is pretty much trying to ride on the Twilight wave. It bugs me a bit because most people are just trying to make money out of our poor fan hearts, but I am so freaking happy for the authors and as a fan in general really. I think it's great!!! Congratulations Kiersten!

Now, what do you think? Have you read Paranormalcy? You should if you haven't. Here's my review on the book. Go, read Paranormalcy and fall in love.

The Hunger Games Movie News: More pictures of Katniss, Peeta and Gale on the set.

More pictures of our three favorite actors on set!
I cannot wait for this movie to come out, it seems like it's going to be good,
Hopefully they won't censor too much, I know it has kids killing kids,
but we the fans really want to see all the gory details.

Katniss/ Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games Set.

Peeta/ Josh Hutcherson being all sexy and dirty... and stuff.

Gale/ Liam Hemsworth at the reaping.

Oh Gale, you really make me swoon <3

Gale is looking fiiine, and Peeta is okay. It's just I like tall lean men, not short and bulked up. So Gale is the one that makes me swoon, even though I am Team Peeta. Katniss looks awesome! Can't believe I EVER doubted Jennifer Lawrence (or for that fact the make up people behind the set, I don't know your guys's names but YOU ROCK MY SOCKS!)

Cover Revealed: Destined by PC Cast (House of Night Fans!)

I myself may not be a House of Night fan anymore, but I keep up with the news. The latest being the cover reveal of the next House Of Night novel, Destined.

Hardcover, 336 pages
Expected publication: October 25th 2011 by St. Martin's Griffin

In case you were wondering this is the 9th novel of The House of Night. You read me correctly, ninth if you don't count Dragon's Novella. As always a very alluring cover, but what is to be expected from the people who hit the jackpot with their cover designer? I am assuming this is Kalona (because of the "devil" shadow in the back). He looks like the type of guy you would find in romance novels covers. Attractive, almost too good to be true.

**Edit: It seems this is not Kalona, but Heath? O.o What the hell, Heath? When did you become so foxy borderlining on Playboy? His new name is Aurox or something, damn I am lost when it comes to this series, time to flip through the last book again...
I like it just fine, but now the real question here is, do you?

Teaser Tuesday: The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross

The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles, #1)
The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles #1)
by Kady Cross
Hardcover, 473 pages
Published May 24th 2011 by Harlequin Teen
"She could feel blood trickling from her mouth and she wiped at it with the back of her hand. Vision finally clear, she saw that Lord Felix had also removed his waistcoat and was now rolling up his sleeves. The excited glint in his eye told Finley exactly what kind of lesson he intended her to "learn"...

...But Lord Felix August-Raynes was not a good man. And it was time someone taught him a lesson.

The warm rush of familiar power brought a smile to her battered lips. She gave up all attemps to keep it reined in. It was the only way she'd survive this night with her virtue and bones intact. It was as though she was watching herself from a perch on the ceiling- all she could do was observe as her other self took over. Her boots shifted on the bare floor, right foot forward, left foot back and pointed out. She raised her fists.
"Coming back for more, eh?" Felix grinned at her. "I like a little fight in my girls."

She grinned at him, causing blood to dribble down her chin. "Then you're going to love me."
I like this girl! She is so inproper and kick ass for her time. I mean when you read the book it's clear she is from the 1800s, but she also has a kick ass heroine attitude to her that is very 21st century. She won't let the Lord of the house beat her up and rape her, and every other one who has ever tried to take advantage of her has payed the price (not murder, but a heavy beat up). Since the beginning of the novel the character and the set up pulled me in. It's a very interesting book! Anybody read this one lately?

Vampire Academy Movie News: Choosing the Actors/Actresses at Facebook (Rose Edition)

So at The Vampire Academy Official Facebook Page they are having this huge thing were each Monday they put up a poll and the fans get to choose which actor/actress they want to play their favoite characters. It's pretty amazing, and Ive been going at it for weeks (you know I have a pretty set opinion when it comes to casting) but it totally slipped my mind to let you know so you can vote! Don't worry, I would be mad at me too.

I'm going to one post per character they put on the poll (because if not the post would go on forever and I don't want that). You will get to see them here and go to the page and vote (you have to have a Facebook account and you have to technically 'like' the page).

Here it goes:

Now for Rose they made two different polls because they have SO many actresses to choose from, but there is one in each poll that is way ahead of the rest.

Full Name: Rosemarie Hathaway
Nicknames: Rose, Roza, Little Dhampir
Age: 17
Hair: Long dark brown, almost black
Eyes: Brown
Status: Dhampir
Molnija Marks: 2 plus a special tattoo for her part in the battle in Shadow Kiss
First Introduced In: Vampire Academy

First Poll:

Odette Yustman - 7,448

Phoebe Tonkin - 1,015

Minka Kelly - 690

(Dawn? Get out of here)
Michelle Trachtenberg - 581

shay mitchell
Shay Mitchell - 393

Jessica Lowndes - 327

Naya Rivera Actress and "Glee" cast member Naya Rivera arrives at her 23rd birthday celebration at Jet Nightclub at the Mirage Hotel & Casino early February 7, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
(GLEE)
Naya Rivera - 269

Second Poll:

(Hello Rose! So nice to see you)
Sophia Bush - 4,977

(My second choice should Sophia Bush fall down the stairs)
 Lindsy Fonseca - 1,722

(Aren't you from Vampire Diaries?)
Nina Dobrov - 1,248

Lucy Hale - 615

(No... no... no...)
Alexandra Daddario - 573

Victoria Justice - 420

Selena Gomez - 336

Elizabeth Gillies - 316

Christa B. Allen Celebrities walk the red carpet at the 'Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past' Los Angeles Premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Christa B Allen - 157

(even she is scared of the possibilities)
Emilia Clark - 135

The thing about these polls is most people don't research the pictures of people they are voting for. They just see a famous name and go for it. But obviously some of these actresses are more fit for the role than others (Selena Gomez really? I mean I love this girl, but she is NOT Rose Hathaway). I went ahead and looked for pictures for you guys. I swear I choose ones that looked good, not being a complete biased person and making everyone but Sophia Bush look bad.

Who do you think should win the amazing role that is Rose Hathaway. She is the next Dhampire in the block, a great fighter and a fantastic best friend.

Choose well, VOTE HERE, and comment on this post letting me know who you voted for and why ^^

Cover VS Cover: Forgive My Fins and Lost Voices

I have these two different covers for Lost Voices and Forgive my Fins and both are pretty cool so I wanted to show them to you.

Hardcover, 293 pages
Published May 19th 2010
by Katherine Tegen Books

You know what sucks about these two covers? There's no fins!! So that was a huge let down, but other than that I like the first cover more. Mostly because of the makeup and the pose of the model. I like how the girl is smiling in the second one, but nothing other than that.

Hardcover, 304 pages
Published July 4th 2011 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

I love BOTH these covers!! It's such a hard choice for me. I mean, the first one looks awesome, and I like how the designer did the fin (See? This one doesn't even have FINS on their title and it still has find on their cover) but the second one looks like the mermaid is out to get you. I don't know, Im torn!! I think I'm going to choose the second one...

What about you? Which cover would you buy? Have you read these books? How were they?

Cover Winner of July; New Covers for August! Plus, an unexpected surprise? ;)

Once again a month ends and another begins... which means another race for the best cover of the month begins!! It's a blood bath alright. Last month Supernaturally (Kierten White) went head to head with Undercurrent (Tricia Rayburn). For a little while there Undercurrent was definitely kicking butt, but at the end of the day Supernaturally won.

Breakdown Time:

Total votes: 102

New Covers for August:

Honorary Mentions:

All the covers are linked to ther respectuive Goodreads Page.
Now for the surprise!

Ive been thinking long and hard about this and Ive come to a conclusion. At the end of the year, once all the votes are up and the winners have been chosen, I will be doing a special sort of giveaway.

I will giveaway all 12 books that have won in the polls
to ONE lucky winner.

Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you. I will. So guys, choose wisely, and start voting the hell out of this poll. Cause at the end of the year one of you will win them ALL. In a few days I will create an official post stating the guidelines of my giveaway (gives me enough time to also come up with a quirky name).
