Bloodlines Teaser Tuesday/Ive been Gone...

Ive been gone for far too long, and this is going to change! Thing is, BEA was crazy so no posting that week, and after BEA I didn't go home, I went to Puerto Rico for a bit more vacation time, and that if anything was even more crazy. I had so much freaking fun this past week and a half! I shall start on my BEA posts starting tomorrow, today I'm still trying to get back into my home routine. Even though soon enough I'm leaving again cause I'm going back to see my boyfriend at home since he graduates from boot camp this week! Damn straight!

So current mood: Ecstatic

I figure I should do TT today cause, I just got back from BEA. You know what that means? BLOODLINES BY RICHELLE MEAD IS IN MY POSSESSION! So here goes nothing guys, enjoy!
"The subtext was loud and clear. I wasn't free of my past, not yet. Horowitz paused and lifted the needle, allowing me the chance to speak. My mind raced. Some response was expected. I didn't want to sound too upset by the plan. I needed to restore my good name among the Alchemists and show my willingness to follow orders. That being said, I also didn't want to sound as though I were too comfortable with vampires or their half human counterparts, the dhampirs.
"Spending time with any of them is never fun," I said carefully, keeping my voice cool and haughty. "Doesn't matter how much you do it. But I'll do necessary to keep us -and everyone else- safe." I didn't need to explain that "everyone" meant humans."
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead, ARC copy.
Okay I'll be back later guys, enjoy in the mean time.

Update on Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss; Two New photos to swoon over!

Yesterday I posted the first photo released by Entertainment Weekly (I love this magazine), and as it turns out inside the issue there are two more photos!

I just want to see her act already! I have to go and rent one of her movies. I found the two photos at Hypable.com, thanks guys!

I have to admit, at first I was a bit worried of the casting choice. But the more I look at the pics the more convinced I am that she might just pull this off with flying colors!

Here's to hoping *.*

Today I'm going to every store to see if this issue is out. I am buying this!

Wednesday 18 May 2011

Take a look at Katniss! Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.

... She looks great! My doubts have been erased from my mind. All that is left is to see her act. You look awesome Katniss!! Thank you casting director for Katniss, now fix Peeta and Gale please!!

Do you like her now? Did you always thought Lawrence would do a great job? What do you think!?

PS; I NEED to get this issue!!

The Cover for Haunting Violet by Alyxandra Harvey, Looks Familar?

Well, it should. I don't know if this is a remake of the original cover or if its just the UK cover or something like that, but it exists in Bloomsbury.com so I'm saying it's official.

**Edit** I believe this is the UK cover. UK for the win!

Hardcover, 352 pages
Expected publication: June 21st 2011
"When the Dead Lead, The Living Must Follow"

This is the same artist they use for the Fallen covers! Same girl, same atmosphere. I like the cover obviously, but I wonder why they felt the need to come up with another version. Were people responding badly to the first? Or just for the hell of it, better marketing strategy? The Fallen covers are legendary, half the people pick up the novel because of the cover, so it makes sense.

Which one do you like more? Be honest...

UK VS US

Are you most likely to buy the book with the Fallen-esque cover?

PS; US wins. I mean I love the Fallen covers, but this cover just fits the story. Plus I love how the girl looks almost in the brink of death and the flowers. I liked the US cover all along too.

Music Monday: Pan!c At The Disco's New Song

I was a fan of Panic at the Disco's first album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. I used to work for my mom, and so whenever we had to go out to do something work related we always put that CD in the car and sang our hearts out. Its a tremendous CD. Totally worth the buy. So you can imagine just how happy we were when they came out with a second CD, and just how bumped out we were to find out it sucked. We disliked it, and rightfully so. The CD didn't draw as much attention as the first did. So we figure that was the end of Panic At The Disco as we knew it...

Now, is it? They just came out with a third album named Vices and Virtues and I am here to say it doesn't suck!!! They went for a steam punk kind of thing in this new album, the first one was a circus kind of thing, the second one I don't even want to know cause as of now it doesn't exist in my head!

Here is one of the new songs from Vices and Virtues, it's called The Ballad of Mona Lisa:

Oh gosh, I missed your voice. I really did. I see the video and it reminds me of Soulless by Gail Carriger.
Viva Pan!c at the Disco and their return from the dead!!

Here is one of my favorite songs by them, Lying is the Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off:

And this is their original song, the one that made them who they are, I Write Sins Not Tragedies:

Okay fine, they are weird but they are also wonderful. The titles of their songs are weird too... I know.

Secrets by Rina Onur and Lauren Kunze

Gregory or Clint? Clint or Gregory? Matt, anyone? And what is Lexi up to . . .exactly?

When we last saw Callie Andrews, she was caught on the horns of a dilemma. Lexi was threatening to expose all of her safely guarded, deeply buried secrets from high school, and Callie had just hooked up with bad-boy Gregory--despite the fact that she had a perfect (sort of) boyfriend and her BFF Vanessa had claimed (sort of) Gregory as her own. Yow.

Entertaining, hilarious, addictive, scandalous, sexy, and smart, The Ivy series is an insider's look at freshman life at Harvard University. This isn't high school anymore!

Taschima's POV:

Are you a good girl? Do you always do everything right? Never fall out of line? You always want to make mommy and daddy proud. Has that thing called drama ever touched your life? Boys? Just normal dates, you know who you want and thats that. Well, this book is none of that. The thing about books is that they let us explore another life. They let us become another person completely for whatever number of pages the read is. With this book your life will be full of scandal, doubt, and above all excitement!

Callie is a freshman at Harvard university and she is facing a dilemma. She wants to get into the university's magazine, she wants to date a boy who realle makes her feel, and she wants to do all this while still keeping all her friends, not to mention her grades, intact and happy. Thing is one of the editors of the magazine, Lexie, hates her because Callie wants to date Clint, Lexie's ex and current obsession, while at the same time Callie is undecided on who she really wants to be with, Clint is dreamy sure, but Gregory is the bad boy with a heart of gold, but her "best friend" Vanessa likes Gregory, and Callie did a stupid thing with Gregory over the break... Oh and also finals are just around the corner, whats a girl with this much drama to do!

I like these kinds of novels cause they get me out of my head and into a world full of scandal that I will probably never experience in real life. It's Harvard a la Gossip Girl. The difference between this series and the Gossip Girl series? I would have to say it's the brains. In the book although Callie is certainly overwhelmed with how much is happening in her life you always know she is a smart tough cookie. As are all of her friends really.

As for second installments I couldn't be more pleased. Sure sometimes I wanted to slap a few characters, and at times I just wanted to scream and be like what the hell are you doing! But that only adds to the excitement. My level of enjoyment while reading the book was off the roof. That's what this book is all about, fun, entretainment. Reading for the pleasure of reading and cracking a few smiles along the way. This might not hold true with everyone (I mean I picked the first novel of Gossip girl a few years back and stopped reading the series, it's not for everyone) but it might just hold true with you!

The series is awesome so just read it. But first be sure to read The Ivy which is the first installment.

Teaser Tuesday Everyone!

I'm going to give you 3 teasers. One from the latest novel Ive read, one from the novel I'm currently reading, and one that Julie Kagawa posted herself about Summer's Crossing. Sooounds awesome doesn't it? I know it does.

A conversation between Em and Michael:

"I mean," he backpedaled, "she was still at the hourglass trying to help Kaleb, but I didn't want Landers to have access to her anymore. I needed to keep her away from him."

"Aren't you just a knight in shinning armor?" My voice dripped syrupy sweetness, and any warm, fuzzy feelings leftover from last night completely disappeared into a vacuum. "Wherever do you keep your horse? And who scoops up the crap it leaves behind?"

Did I mention just how much I love this girl? The book is coming out on June so guys do yourselves a favor and BUY IT.

Read my Review. It's worth those 3 minutes out of your life.

Scene between Callie and Gregory:

"Hey!" she cried, picking up the nearest stack of papers and hurling it at him.

"Hey yourself!" he retorted, reaching in to tickle her sides. Laughing uncontrollably, she grabbed a pillow off the couch and started whacking him on the head. He let her get away with it twice before he grabbed the pillow in one hand and her wrists in the other, slowly lowering them back down to her sides. Her resistance and her laughter faded abruptly as he looked at her, his hand steady on her wrist, their faces only a few inches apart -"

And that's all you get. Yeap, I'm horrible, but doesn't that just make you want to read it even more? Not that fact that I'm horrible, but the small cliffhanger. This is the sequel to The Ivy (review here), and it's good! I loved The Ivy and Secrets is no let down whatsoever. This series is a collegy Gossip Girl book that I think most of you, not all, will enjoy. Review is coming up soon!

*From Julie Kagawa's Site*

So, here is the very first SUMMER'S CROSSING teaser, as told by the one and only Robin Goodfellow:

"Names are, of course, very important to my kind. Me, I have so many, I can’t even remember them all. None of them are my True Name, of course. No one has ever spoken my real name out loud, not once, despite all the titles and nicknames and myths I’ve collected for myself over the years. No one has ever come close to getting it right.

Curious, are you? Wanna know my True Name? Okay, listen up, I’ve never told anyone before. My True Name is…"

She likes to torture us doesn't she? There is where the teaser stops. Now the novella comes out June 1st, so be prepared people!!

YA Review: Hourglass by Myra McEntire

Title: Hourglass

One hour to rewrite the past . . .

For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.
So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.
Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?

Full of atmosphere, mystery, and romance, Hourglass merges the very best of the paranormal and science-fiction genres in a seductive, remarkable young adult debut.
Taschima's POV:

This book rocked. That is it. If you have eyes read it. If you cant read get someone to read it for you because you just don't want to let this one pass you by. I love it. Period. The main character is on the Kick Ass Chicks League accompanied by ladies non other than Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games), Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy), and Cat (The Night Huntress Series). She is quick, she is witty, she is phenomenal. Even if the entire plot were to suck (which it didn't) I would still read it because of her. That's how serious I'm about this girl. Shes got spunk!

Em is a girl with problems. The thing is she sees ghosts, or that is what she believes she sees. I mean when you see a flapper girl walk past you in a hallway you do a double take, when you touch her and she disappears you just go mental. Which Em did actually, she went mental. But not because of her ability alone (although that sure helped a bit). After her parents died she went into a deep depression that swallowed her whole. But now she is recovered, sort of, and she is going to go back to live with her dear brother, and guardian, which by the by knows about her secret. He tries to get her help when he finds out about this mysterious society called The Hourglass, little did the brother know that by contacting them he was setting a billion things in motion.

And so it begins. As you already realized by now I loved the main character (which is ALWAYS a good thing) but there is more to the book than just the main girl. There is also the plot, which in here is very original and entertaining. The book and the friendships that evolve in the book made me feel comfortable, like I could have stayed longer and read even more. Which I was willing but the damn book is only 300 something pages long. Anyways, the romance part of the book doesn't over cloud anything but it's rather well balanced. I had my doubts about the main lover, because his best friend was just so darn attractive also. They are both good characters, and you should totally get to know them.

My favorite books of all time have a good plot sure, but they have even greater characters. I mean a plot can be great but if you dislike the person telling the story you are just going to shut the book then and there. This book it's totally going into my top 2011 reads list. You should read it once it comes out, it wont disappoint!

Waiting on Wednesday Yet Again

Above
Expected publication: 2012 by Arthur A. Levine Books
Matthew's father had lion's feet and his mother had gills, and both fled the modern-day city to live in underground Safe, a secret community of freaks, ghost-whisperers, and disabled outcasts hidden beyond the subways and sewers. Raised underground, Matthew is responsible for the keeping of both Safe's histories and the traumatized shapeshifter Ariel, the girl he took in, fell in love with – and can't stop from constantly running away.
But Safe is no longer safe: the night after a frightening encounter in the sewers, Safe's founder Atticus is murdered by the one person Safe ever exiled: mad Corner, whose coup is backed by an army of mindless, whispering shadows.
Only Matthew, Ariel, and a handful of unstable, crippled compatriots escape to the city that cast them out; the dangerous place he knows only as Above. Despite Ariel's increasingly erratic behaviour and with the odds against them, Matthew must find a way to rescue Safe from Corner's occupying army. But as his quest leads him through abandoned asylums and the dregs of urban poverty, Matthew discovers that the histories he's devoted his life to aren't true: Corner's invasion -- and Ariel's terrors – are rooted in a history of Safe much darker and bloodier than Matthew ever imagined.
And even if he manages to save both home and Ariel, he may well lose himself.

Book Related comment of the day: A 2012 release... Woot! The cover is so pretty I might cry! I love the girl with the unusual wings. The colors are amazing too, maybe we'll get lucky and all the 2012 covers will be this pretty!

Personal comment of the day: I am back from my vacation at Puerto Rico. It was awesome, I got to see all my friends and had so much fun! Thing is, the day that the new Charlaine Harris novel came out I went to the Borders to get it and guess what, they didn't have it! Borders at Puerto Rico is nothing but a disaster. Oh well, I'll buy it at Amazon.com

Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog... Sequel

So has anybody had the pleasure to watch this? It's only the most awesome sing-along blog ever to be created. I mean, Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse, Firely) made it, and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother, Doogie Howser, etc) plus Nathan Fillion (Castle, Firefly, etc) start in it as Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer. It's a great bitter sweet story about how the villain wants to be evil AND get the girl because even though he aspires to be evil he has a soft side. The songs are great, the acting is superb, and the story is fan-fricking-tastic! I mean, After I finish the movie I went right back and watched it again! It's nothing less than a masterpiece.

Now, Joss is thinking of doing a sequel. Thing is, he always thought of doing a sequel for this movie. Some fans are worried as hell because of this cause, well, sequel's are known to be, well, crappy in comparison with the first try. I thought the first movie ended beautifully, and can totally work as a stand alone. But I do wish for some more fine tunes. I am not ashamed to say I have the entire Dr. Horrible album in my Ipod and I am going to buy the movie on blu-ray. Also I have no idea what he can come up with for the sequel, but I mean it's fricking Joss Whedon, I am sure he won't disappoint.

Where did I ver hear this info about a sequel?  Well, I found the link on Facebook of course. It took me to a page called Geek News from MTV (bookmarking it right... now). If you want to read the entire article click here by all means.

This is a little sneak peak on what Whedon has to say:
"We’ve just all got jobs. And it’s not like Neil, Nathan and Felicia ain’t busy either. We get together at Christmas and family occasions, and then play each other our partial songs and go, “Yup, that’s still exactly as it was the last time we played it. We’re great.” It’s bad."
-Joss Whedon, Source

And here is Act 1 part 1 for those poor souls out there who haven't had the chance to experience what I can only call awesome piece of work:

You can find the rest of the videos on Youtube.

Enjoy, and comment!
