Thou Shall Read Till Thy Eyes Bleed

Cover VS Cover, The Diviners by Libba Bray.

So I was skipping around through Goodreads when I clicked on The Diviners by Libba Bray (came out Sept. 18!!) and found out this book has not one, nor two, but four different editions! All very different kind of covers with the same theme of the 20s with the Art Deco lines and style of lettering.

The Diviners (The Diviners, #1) The DivinersThe Diviners (The Diviners, #1)

La stella nera di New York
Italian edition.
I like them all really, they all have something about them that make them special and eye catching. If I were to list them in order of liking them this would be my list:
  1. The Second (blue) cover.
  2. The Third (Dark) cover.
  3. The Fourth Italian cover.
  4. The First one.
What I specially like about the blue cover is, well, the blue, the art deco straight lines (which are an eco of the 20s), the font, the eye (which is probably important in the novel). I like the mystery of the third cover, the sort of maybe tattooed arms linking in the way they are, the tarot card, plus the color and the beautiful font.   I like the background of the Italian cover, the city, the lights illuminating the sky... the movel, sort of, she is very pretty but I am not into the black and white picture. Finally the last cover has nice font and the picture around the eye is pretty awesome, but the detail stops there as does my interest.

Has anybody read The Diviners? It's in my TBR pile, hopefully I'll get to it soon!

  3. I'm with you on this one. That second cover is perfect! It's eye-catching and indicative that it's set in the 1920s and the positioning of every component works well together.

But all of them are great, with my second also being the 3rd cover. Can't wait for this book!

  5. I have this one on my shelf right now. It's so daunting because of how big it is.

  6. Torn between the dark mystery of three and the art deco feel of two. Really intrigued to read this now!

  8. I definitely like the third cover best-- very mysterious and dark.

  9. I've liked the UK cover for a long time, but this is my first time seeing the Italian cover and I really like that one too!

  10. It is rare that I actually like all of the editions of a book cover. In this case, I do. Not all equally but I like at least something about each one. I would say my order is exactly the same as your order. Oh, and the eye is very important to the story, and the story is very good!

  11. I agree with you that all of the covers are unique and eye-catching! I'd have to go with the 3rd and the 1st as my top favorites.
