Some Angels are Destined to Fall
There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . .
Even if it kills her.
Taschima's POV:
Luce Price is an avarage girl with a dark past. All her life she has seen this dark shadows all around her.But whenever she mentions them she gets a first class ticket to the loony bin. Finally she decides to ignore these shadows, and everything is good for a while until a little accident occurs. This accident gets her a ticket to Sword & Cross, a school for "bad" kids. Here Luce meets Daniel Grogori, mysterious and aloof, the guy girls only dream about. She feels this strange link to him, but Daniel wants nothing to do with her. Still Luce can't ignore the strange compulsion she feels towards him, so she is determined to find out Daniel's secret one way or the other.
Fallen was unexpected on its plot, but not highly exciting. I don't read many books with reform schools in them, which was something that made me interested in this book. Another thing that I liked was the connection between Daniel & Luce, you could cut the, um, attraction tension with a knife. Besides the setting and the romance, I liked a bunch of the side characters. So it's safe to say the book has a lot of elements that attract attention and manage to interest you throught the novel, but...
I wasn't engrossed in the story as I have with others. This is not a complete bad thing, but it would have been nice. It was good. The romance was awesome, though it makes me really think about what attracts me in a romance lol Daniel wasn't very nice to Luce in the beginning. Pushing her away and what not. Luce was an okay character, and Daniel totally delivers. Some of the times I kind of agreed with some of the bad guys with their opinions on Luce. Yikes.
Still, right after I finished this one I bought the second one. The story interested me enough to buy the second book, and basically the first book left you with a ton of questions while answering none. At least they did not answer anything that you couldn't figure out on your own.
So I think Torment will be much much better. There are a lot of questions to answer, and a lot of character development to explore. Not to mention a dark and twisty romance waiting to unfold.
I haven't heard many positive things about the book, liked your honesty! love the layout by the way :)
ReplyDeletei thought this one was slow too, i hope you like torment better!
ReplyDeleteI purposely waited until Torment came out to buy this one.
ReplyDeleteI heard that Fallen left the reader with lots of unanswered questions. I can be pretty impatient sometimes when it comes to waiting on sequels. That way I can read them back to back and feel mostly satisfied. lol.
