"To kill or not to kill"
Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated.
As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.
Taschima's POV:
I had this book In my shelf for I don't know how long and I really regret not having read it earlier.
Katniss is the hunter, the sister and the mother. She has had more responsibilities than any kid her age should endure. But since life isn't perfect things are about to get worse. It's time for "The Hunger Games". "The Hunger Games" are a show that has 24 competitors, two for each district, a boy and a girl, and the main point of the game is to kill each other in front of thousands of spectators. When the name of her sister is chosen in the draw in a second Katniss decides to volunteer for her little sister, making her a contestant in "The Hunger Games".
I have one world for this book: Epic.
Absolutely looved it! It has everything you could wish for, violence, suspense, thrill, a magnificent and original story line, and a bit of romance. It's so awesome.
The main character, Katniss, is competing for the first place in my favorite characters in YA (her competition is Rose from Vampire Academy). She is strong. independent and so smart! She is a very powerful main character and I believe that you would all love her.
The world is chaotic, full of hunger and despair. Katniss grew up taking care of her little sister and hunting to survive. Now there are some other characters like her sister Prim, her mother, Gale and Peeta.
I am part of the Peeta team! Gale is okay, but I don't know him that much, not like I know Peeta. Peeta is charming and so sweet.
The things that happen on "The Hunger Games" are horrible, the extremes people will take to survive. And the writing of the author gives us such a clear picture.
I don't know what else to say, I just love it. It has a perfect balance. I wish for everybody to read it. The only thing that was a little bit like "uh?" where the names. Katniss? Peeta? Prim? Weird, but original!
Read it, read it, read it.
I liked this book too..I just got Catching Fire for Christmas from my secret santa and I am so excited to find a chance to read it and see what else happens to Peeta and Katniss.
