Teaser Tuesday (On Wednesday)

I know it's almost Thursday anyways, but this teaser made me laugh, so I wanted to share it with you guys.

Here we go...
Anne:

"Tess says with guys, it all comes down to three things-sports, sex, and food. Not necessarily in that order. For example in junior high, I was trying to write a short story, and I asked my brother David what he and his friends said when they thought a girl was hot. His response was, "I'd do her." Then he grabbed the bag of Cheetos, snagged the remote, and flipped between ESPN and ESPN 2 for the next thirty minutes."
Pg. 16

I know male friends of mine who would give that response. It's sad really. Now girls, what do you think? And if you are male, how would you respond to this?

  1. Egh. I hate it when guys say stuff like that. It's so demeaning. My inner feminist raises her hackles and snarls.
If I were a guy? I hope I'd say something a little more interesting. Like "She'd make a good pirate." Or something.

  2. I actually think it's really funny how honest guys are. I mean, when girls say someone's hot, we just mean we're attracted to them, but most guys will pretty much sleep with any girl they're attracted to (they really are whores) so they just say "I'd do her."

My girlfriends and I say it as a joke. I'll be like "I'd tap that." and if my friend agrees the guy is hot she'll just say "Twice." lol

That said, this quote is awesome and makes me want this book even more.

  3. Hi :)
    That's a great teaser!
As a guy I have to say that we do say that a lot. We are, like Taste Life Twice said, whores.
    :)
We say it to our buddies when we don't have the courage to actually go up to the girl and try to get her digits.
    :)
Blame Paris Hilton, because nobody says "hot" anymore, as in "she's hot".
    :)
    All the best,
    RKCharron

  5. That's actually a really cute teaser! It feels like what a junior high guy would actually say. Especially to his sister who asked the question.

  7. Nice teaser. Although this kind of makes me want to scream inside. I hate sterotypes for both genders. Boys I know are not like this, and neither are the fabulous male narrators in some of my favorite YA books (All of John Green's main characters, Junior from Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, etc). Sure, some guys are the sterotype, but not many. Sounds like a cute book!

  12. Aha, I think that's actually funny. In class, I sit around a bunch of guys (from the "popular crowd") and all I get from their conversations are: sports, food and...well, I get a sense of their immaturity.

This sounds like a great book :) I think I'll give this one a go.

  14. All I have to say is that I think, "she'd make a good pirate." is hilarious
and I love the exchange between Taste Life Twice and her friend.
And this quote is awesome and it will be going into my TBR pile.
