US VS Germany; Hourglass by Myra McEntire

Myra McEntire just showed us the german cover for Hourglass, and I instantly liked it, even though If I had to choose I would choose the U.S. one. I was wondering which one would you prefer?

Hourglass (Hourglass, #1)
US - GERMAN
Hardcover, 400 pages
Published June 14th 2011
by Egmont USA

Things I like about the U.S. cover:
  • The "defying gravity" quality. Look at her hair!
  • The girl they choose; she is blonde as the main character in the story is.
  • The purple wallpaper and hard wood floors!!! (Interior Design junkie)
  • The font Hourglass is written in.
  • Did I mention the girl is freaking defying gravity?!
Things I like about the German cover:
  • How white it looks, it's very peaceful and captures your eyes.
  • The butterflies flying away!
  • The girl's dress; I kind of want it.
  • The pose of the girl; plus the girl is very pretty ^^
And even though I like these things about the German cover I still think the U.S. one represents the story better. My eyes still can't look away from those butterflies though...

What about you? Which one do you prefer?

  1. My problem with the German cover is damn, that girl is skinny - too skinny. Anorexic skinny. Grrrr, covers perpetuating stereotypes of female beauty...

  3. I haven't read the book yet, but at first glance I think the German one is more eye-catchy.

  4. Absolutely the UK version. I almost didn't request this book from Vine because the US cover looked dumb to me...

  5. I love the butterflies and the calm peaceful feel of the German cover but the U.S. cover had my eyes going o.o when I first saw it and that is still my reaction here. I love it. All the colours in it complement each other perfectly and the image is both beautiful and haunting. Defying gravity come on! Also the US cover shows you that it's paranormal while the German cover could easily be for contemporary.
