Here's the scoop:
Glee co-star Chris Colfer has signed a two-book deal with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
The Land of Stories, due in summer 2012, will tell the story of twins Alex and Connor Bailey and be a fast-paced adventure series that combines the modern world with fairytales. It will target readers ages 8-12 and be followed by a second novel that is yet to be titled.
“When I was 10 years old, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to write this book, I would jump at the chance,” Colfer said in a statement announcing the news Wednesday. “This book has been at the core of my imagination for a long time and I’m excited and nervous to share it.”
-Hollywood Reporter full ArticleChris is a great actor. To be honest he is my favorite Glee character. He got into that show and basically stole our hearts. Every week I tune in with the hopes of hearing him sing (his voice gets better and better with every season). Whats more is that he is an inspiration to every single kid and girl out there who are struggling with their true selves, who are too scared to come out and be who they are. Gay or otherwise really. He is awesome...
But can he write? I am afraid that we will always have a shroud of doubt in our hearts as to if he is using another person to write for him. Why? Cause he is an actor and that's what they do! I mean, I still have my doubts when it comes to Hilary Duff and her series. Don't you?
I really hope he writes this book himself. But how can we ever really know? I guess the only thing we can do is just to hope and trust him.
As to the book itself I am guessing that I will want to read it since he will "write" it. It seems below my normal age group though. So it's still a maybe.

I've always been kinda doubtful of actors (and politicians) who write fiction, as well. But Chris seems so genuine-- I'd like to trust him on this, and give his series a read. He's my favorite character on Glee, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope he does write it himself!
ReplyDeleteBut i guess acting does take up a lot of time and so does writing so he might not ):

I was so excited to hear this. Kurt is so awesome. I think he'll be writing it himself, at least, since he's wanted to write it for years...
ReplyDeleteSummer 2012? Ugh. 2012 keeps getting farther and farther away...
Usually, I hate it when actors/singers/models try to write fiction books. BUT I love Chris Colfer. LOVE. He is the main reason I watch Glee. So, I will give the boy a chance and keep my fingers crossed that he KILLS IT.
