New Dystopian Novel on the Block
I got this info from Lisa's newsletter, and its pretty kick ass!
THE UNWANTEDS, a dystopian fantasy series, is about a society where strength and intelligence is rewarded, and creativity is outlawed. Every year, the 13-year-olds are sorted into categories. The strong, intelligent Wanteds go to university, and the creative, artistic Unwanteds get sent to their death. The book follows twin boys, Alex and Aaron Stowe, as they await their fate.
THE UNWANTEDS (Book 1) comes out September 6, 2011. Cover reveal coming soon!
I love Lisa's books! They are always so creepy and awesome (Wake series anyone?). Tomorrow Cryer's Cross comes out and guess who is going to the nearest bookstore to get it? Exactly.

ReplyDelete"The strong, intelligent Wanteds go to university, and the creative, artistic Unwanteds get sent to their death."
Is it bad that this made me giggle? Death to us creative types.
I'll have to keep an eye out for this one.
This sounds pretty interesting. I haven't read any books from the Wake series but I might pick this one up when it comes out. The title kind of makes me cringe but that's just the grammar/spelling part of me.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I've heard of this, now I can't wait for it to come out!!!
ReplyDeleteAh, I'm starting to fall in love with dystopian novels.
ReplyDeleteI've never actually read anything by Lisa McMann (Cringe...I know I'm behind), but I love dystopian. This one sounds awesome though!
ReplyDeleteHm...Sounds interesting. Guess it'll have to go on my wishlist!
ReplyDeleteAt a book signing a few months back Lisa read part of the beginning of the book to us. It sounds awesome and I'm excited now that there is a release date even if it is far away.
ReplyDeleteThis does sound good, thanks for sharing hun!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the Wake series, but I will get there. So, She's eerie, hunh? I have not heard of her at all except for the Wake series but her name didn't stick with me. I'll check out her new book.

On the whole, i like dystopian for the message of necessarry change it conveys, but this one sounds too staight forward, you know? Where's the *gasp*-factor? I think our society already values both the intelligent and the creative pretty equally, just in different fields, so i don't see what the deeper meaning of this could be. Maybe I'll just have to read it to find out, but I hope there's more depth to it than that.
ReplyDeleteI've had my eye on this title. I came across it the other day while browsing aimlessly through goodreads, and now I fear that September cannot get here soon enough!
ReplyDeleteOMG! This book sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteI loved Lisa McMann's wake series!! I can't wait for this one!! It is bound to be interesting!

ReplyDeleteDystopian? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the cover, Lisa's covers are all so cool, the guy that makes them is a genius!
This sounds *extremely* creepy, but good. It makes me wonder, though, isn't creativity a form of intelligence as well? *is perplexed*
ReplyDeleteI love dystopian and I love Lisa McMann! I'm vair vair excited for this :D
