Book Description:

Dancia Lewis is far from popular. And that's not just because of her average grades or her less-than-glamorous wardrobe. In fact, Dancia's mediocrity is a welcome cover for her secret: whenever she sees a person threatening someone she cares about, things just...happen. Cars skid. Structures collapse. Usually someone gets hurt. So Dancia does everything possible to avoid getting close to anyone, belieiving this way she can supress her powers and keep them hidden.

But when recruiters from the prestigious Delcroix Academy show up in her living room to offer her a full scholarship, Dancia's days of living under the radar may be over. Only, Delcroix is a school for diplomats' kids and child geniuses--not B students with uncontrollable telekinetic tendencies. So why are they treating Dancia like she's special? Even the hottest guy on campus seems to be going out of his way to make Dancia feel welcome.

And then there's her mysterious new friend Jack, who can't stay out of trouble. He suspects something dangerous is going on at the Academy and wants Dancia to help him figure out what. But Dancia isn't convinced. She hopes that maybe the recruiters know more about her "gift" than they're letting on. Maybe they can help her understand how to use it...But not even Dancia could have imagined what awaits her behind the gates of Delcroix Academy.

Book Description:

Natalie Sterling wants to be in control. She wants her friends to be loyal. She wants her classmates to elect her student council president. She wants to find the right guy, not the usual jerk her school has to offer. She wants a good reputation, because she believes that will lead to good things.

But life is messy, and it's very hard to be in control of it. Not when there are freshman girls running around in a pack, trying to get senior guys to sleep with them. Not when your friends have secrets they're no longer comfortable sharing. Not when the boy you once dismissed ends up being the boy you wants to sleep with yourself - but only in secret, with nobody ever finding out.

Slut or saint? Winner or loser? Natalie is getting tired of these forced choices - and is now going to find a way to live life in the sometimes messy, sometimes wonderful in-between.

Crave: Although Covet wasn't as great as the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, this Fallen Angels series is entraining and awesome. I am hoping that Crave will meet my expectation and surpass them, because the series can only get better with J R Ward as its writer.

Delcroix Academy: An Academy, tragedy, powers, weird gal, Jack, mystery, I think Delcroix Academy is right up anyone's alley.

Not That Kind of Girl: Usually not my cup of tea, but I am willing to give it a shot. No vampires or powers I know, but the inner conflict sounds interesting enough.

Only 3 this time, but don't worry, I still have many more up my sleeve...

Enjoy,

The Ivy by Lauren Kunze, Rina Onur.

Title: The Ivy
Series: The Ivy League
Book #: 1
Author: Lauren Kunze, Rina Onur
Pages: 320
Publisher: Greenwillow
Reading Level:
Young Adult
Publish Date: August 31, 2010
Rating: .7

CALLIE ANDREWS may not have money or connections or the right clothes, and she may have way too many complications in her love life, what with--

GREGORY
the guy she loves to hate

EVAN
the guy she'd love to forget

CLINT
the guy she'd love to love

and MATT
the guy she really should love

--all vying for her attention.

But she has three fantastic roommates (best friends or her worst nightmare?) and a wholesome California-girl reputation (oops) and brains and beauty and big, big dreams.
Will it be enough to survive freshman year at Harvard?

Freshman year at Harvard--glamorous parties, blossoming friendships, steamy romances, and scandalous secrets. Skip the campus tour and get right to the good stuff: classes are for scoping guys (and their Facebook profiles), not taking notes. The library is for study dates (the medieval history stacks get a lot of action), not studying. And success is a 4.0 GPA... plus getting into the most exclusive parties. How will Callie--a California girl with brains, beauty, and big dreams--and her three roommates survive?

Get admitted to The Ivy, the first book in a provocative new series about the world of the Ivy League.

Taschima:

Callie Andrews doesn't know what's coming. First week at Harvard and already her world is upside down. Evan, her stupid ex boyfriend, left her on the the first week of school. That brke her heart, but she quickly made amends. As she gets to know more her roommates and her neighbors, Callie Andrews gets more sucked into the world of the glamorous, the drama, The Ivy.

This book is so entertaining! Some people have been comparing it to Gossip Girl, and I say they are right but I would say that this book is less Gossipy and more action. It's a great, fast, and fun summer read.

It's just a whirlwind of events. Everything happens very fast and yet everything kind of makes sense. I wouldn't know if Miss Kunze and Miss Onur's portrayal of college is accurate since I am yet to go to College (this year I will be a freshman!) but with everything that Ive heard it sounds about right.

Not only do they portray the party side of college, but they also put emphasis on the hard side of college with the projects and all the papers the girls have to write. Though the papers are more for a magazine than school. Anyways it still shows you that college is definitely not high school in many ways.

The problems of the girls seem real. Factor in today's society and what may happen to Callie on the sequel is completely possible in today's world.

Entertaining and kind of fun. And for the readers out there who take everything that is in a book too seriously? Well, don't and remember, it's just fiction. The book shows you these circumstances, and it shows you how they are bad and how they could potentially destroy you, so I don't believe the author is preaching a bad behavior. I really liked it; it entertained me endlessly and I can't wait for the sequel.

Every book is different and enjoyable in it's own way. This book is like that pop song you can't help but like, or that t.v. show you can't help but love. It's a dirty little secret. It's my dirty little secret.

Remember Me

After watching this movie yesterday with my mother and my aunt I got to the internet and searched for reviews on the movie. And I couldn't believe what my eyes were telling me were the feelings of countless others.

This is from a site called Rotten Tomatoes.com

"Put it this way, Coulter, there are over 3000 true stories you could have told, and this film may insult every single one."

Wow, don't you sound a little harsh there mate? I watched the movie and I think it was one of those few movies I would actually buy on Blue Ray and keep it on my collection. Seriously! Robert Pattinson redeemed himself in this movie. The boy knows how to act! Who would have known?!

Oh and this one insulted me:

"Tween and teen girls will weep in the cheap seats, while adults will be narked by the ending, a shameful piggyback on a national tragedy, which will further the career of the heart-throb."

What is he trying to say? Teens aren't mature enough to comprehend the devastating event that occurred? Or that we are just plain stupid and without taste? Listen whoever you are I watched it with my aunt and my mother both of which are adults and both which were devastated by said event and they thought the movie was great!

Here is a movie summary:

"In the romantic drama Remember Me, Robert Pattinson plays Tyler, a rebellious young man in New York City who has a strained relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan) ever since tragedy separated their family. Tyler didn’t think anyone could possibly understand what he was going through until the day he met Ally (Emilie de Ravin) through an unusual twist of fate. Love was the last thing on his mind, but as her spirit unexpectedly heals and inspires him, he begins to fall for her. Through their love, he begins to find happiness and meaning in his life. But soon, hidden secrets are revealed, and the circumstances that brought them together slowly threaten to tear them apart. Remember Me is an unforgettable story about the power of love, the strength of family, and the importance of living passionately and treasuring every day of one’s life."

I liked it, does that mean I am a immature teenage girl? No! The movie was good! I was no fan of Robert Pattinson before watching this movie, but after watching it I am giving him a thumbs up (even though I still don't like him as Edward). And the girl they choose was very cute yet fierce. They make a good couple. The story is suppose to be about love and healing and finding yourself even though it may take time and you may just find yourself to be lost again. The cast pulled it off. And the plot has such a big heart. Everything that happens you feel it and understand it. And how are you able to feel it? Well, the actors were great at their jobs.

Nothing, I just thought since I only saw bad reviews that I might as well give my two cents and support the movie. Movie rocked. Ending was "wow" and I don't think it was piggy back riding at all! What about other movies who have used that as a theme? Were they piggy back ridding? I think not. So just stop hating because Robert is a glittery vampire the other half of his time xD

Also, people who "hated" the movie, do you guys watch the special features of a movie? Because it further explain stuff about the "behind-the-scenes" of the movie and would probably make the thing that you hated about it more bearable. Just saying.

Anyways, I'm done. I recommend it. Watch it. Bye!

Guardian of the Gate by Michelle Zink (Contest Time!!!!!!!)

Title: Guardian of the Gate
Series: Prophecy of the Sisters
Book #: 2
Author: Michelle Zink
Pages: 342
Publisher: Little Brown
Reading Level:
Young Adult
Rating: .6

The ultimate battle between sisters is nearing, and its outcome could have catastrophic consequences. As sixteen year-old Lia Milthorpe searches for a way to end the prophecy, her twin sister Alice hones the skills she'll need to defeat Lia. Alice will stop at nothing to reclaim her sister's role in the prophecy, and that's not the only thing she wants: There's also Lia's boyfriend James.

Lia and Alice always knew the Prophecy would turn those closest to them against them. But they didn't know what betrayal could lead them to do. In the end, only one sister will be left standing.

Taschima:

Two sisters battling for different outcomes. One wants to destroy, One wants to save. One is evil, one is good. Together they are part of a prophecy that's been going on for centuries. Lia, because of some messed up trick of faith, is the Gate of the prophecy. Not only is she the Gate, she is the Angel; She holds the power to bring or finish Samuel once and for all.

Though it suffers a bit from "book-2-ritis", which means it's a bridge between books, Guardian of The Gate didn't disappoint one bit.

The writing is, as always, splendid, captivating, and awesome. Michelle doesn't linger on stuff and makes it more than it really is, and in every corner she always has a surprise/danger in storage. Which is awesome for me because I hate when authors try to drag things out *cough* HON *cough*

They are in a journey to a strange place called Altus, which is like a 21st century place when you are talking men and women relationships but more spiritual, and in the journey they meet Dimitri. At this point if you ask about James I would have to ask James who? He doesn't make much of an impression in this novel, but then again I didn't even felt a strong connection to him in the first book so I don't care. Dmitri is your new mystery boy, now is he better than James?

I think Michelle could take the James story line and make it something more sinister, like turn him into a bad guy or something. But then again I am dark and twisty...

Let's see what else... Truth be told it's a great book, but besides the pages being missing, Lia's journey to Altus and then her other journey to find them, and some serious trust issues, little else changes in the original plot, almost like Michelle is letting everything build up for the third installment. Which is good for me because it leaves all the juice to the third book, a book in which I am expecting fireworks!

Action, romance, darkness, light, a battle to end all battles. I really liked Guardian of the Gate and can't wait for the third book to come out. Write faster Michelle!!

Now, for the contest...

I am giving away a Guardian Swag!! All thanks to Michelle! The contest starts today and ends on July 4.

Its Time For... A Giveaway -O.o-

Have you guys heard of this book called Sea Change? Well if you hadn't keep reading, and if you had and either way want the book, well, keep reading.

For those of you who DON'T know what Sea Change is about (under what rock have you been living lately?) here is a summary:

Sixteen-year-old Miranda Merchant is great at science...and not so great with boys. After major drama with her (now ex) boyfriend, she's happy to be spending the summer on small, mysterious Selkie Island, helping her mother sort out her late grandmother's estate.

On the lush, beautiful island, Miranda finds new friends and a community with a mystical history, presenting her with facts her logical, scientific mind can't make sense of. She also meets Leo, who challenges everything she thought she knew about boys, romance...and reality.

Is Leo hiding something? Or is he something that she never could have imagined?

Well, I surely hope Leo is worth all the mystery ;)

The author of this piece of fiction is Aimee Friedman. Name sound familiar? I sure hope so since she has written several young adult books you should know of like South Beach, French Kiss, Hollywood Hills, A Novel Idea, and, most recently, The Year My Sister Got Lucky (which I am dying to read).

The Ivy Blurb (From Lauren Kunze)

Since most of you probably do0n't read the comments (why read them when you can read the post right?) you probably missed Lauren Kunze's response/blurb on her novel The Ivy. She left the comment at this post hoping to enlighten us all on what The Ivy is all about.

Here is her comment:

Hi guys, Lauren Kunze here, author of The Ivy! Harperteen tweeted at me about this post, and I'm here to satisfy your curiosity with blurbs! The series website will be live soon, so more information to come, but for now:

From the ebook:
"Freshman year at Harvard--glamorous parties, blossoming friendships, steamy romances, and scandalous secrets.

Get admitted to The Ivy, the first book in a provocative new series about the world of the Ivy League."

And, from the hardback book flap:
"CALLIE ANDREWS may not have money or connections or the right clothes, and she may have way too many complications in her love life, what with--

GREGORY
the guy she loves to hate
EVAN
the guy she'd love to forget
CLINT
the guy she'd love to love
and MATT
the guy she really should love

--all vying for her attention.
But she has three fantastic roommates (best friends or her worst nightmare?) and a wholesome California-girl reputation (oops) and brains and beauty and big, big dreams.
Will it be enough to survive freshman year at Harvard?"

Thank you so much to everyone who is excited for The Ivy! For more news and updates feel free to follow me on twitter:
http://twitter.com/laurenkunze

That's enough procrastination for now... have to get back to work on editing the sequel!

I think The Ivy is one of this fall's most expected books. I am reading Guardian of the Gate right now (sidenote: totally NOT disappointing me!!) but right after this one I plan to read The Ivy because after all the darkness and creepiness Michelle Zink can bring to her pages I think some lighthearted fun and scandal is just what I need.

So, tell me, was The Ivy one of your most expected books before this post? Is it now?
