Calling all Anita Blake Fans!!!!!
I have been contacted by Smart Pop to do a giveaway on a book that is going to BLOW YOUR MIND.
It goes as follows...
With the upcoming release of the nineteenth Anita Blake book in June, Smart Pop, a line of popular culture books, has released Ardeur: 14 Writers on the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series, a collection of essays edited by Hamilton herself. Ardeur explores a variety of topics relating to the Anita Blake series, including:
- Why the ardeur is the best thing that could have happened to Anita and how Anita was never meant to have sex in the books.
And to add greater insight into the series, Hamilton has written an introduction for each essay that let’s us see a little further into her own world and Anita’s.
-Heather ButterfieldIntern, Smart Pop | BenBella Books, Inc.
The last book Ive read that is like this (a lot of essays on one topic) was A New Dawn, a collection of essays about the Twilight novel. And let me tell you, the essays were almost better than the book! A lot of comedy, originality, and insight. You get to learn what other authors think on the series and that for me is always a blast.
Summary of Ardeur:
Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series is a literary sensation, thanks to its strong female hero, well-fleshed (both literally and literarily) characters and unabashed attitude toward sex. The world Hamilton has created is powerfully compelling and stunningly complex—and it gets deeper and richer, and more perilous, with every book.
Straddling the series’ dominant themes of sex and power, Ardeur gives Anita fans a deeper look into the dynamics, both personal political, that have kept readers fascinated throughout the run of the series. Why is the ardeur the very best thing that could have happened to Anita, personally (aside from all the sex it requires her to have with hot men)? How is Anita’s alternate United States a logical legal extension of our own? And as the series continues, what other bargains might Anita have to make with herself and others in order to keep the people she loves safe from harm?
If I were you I would get in on this. Even if you haven't read any Anita Blake books you could start reading them and then have this as a back up read for when you are finished with the books.
Now the rules of the giveaway are...
- Leave a comment here! In the comment you have to give me a reason you want this book, and leave your email! If you don't feel comfortable leaving your email, email me at bloodybookaholic[AT]hotmail[DOT]com.
- If you are able to, tell other people.
- You don't have to be a follower if you don't want to (Though I encourage for you to be one... Ya know lol)
This giveaway will run for 2 weeks only. NO EXTENSION! You have till April 29, 11:59 P.M. to enter the giveaway.
Have fun! (Don't kill each other)
I want the book because I'd like to read other people thoughts on the ardeur, and whether it's advanced the series or not.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the Anita Blake series. A friend lent me one to read about 6 years ago and I was hooked! It's hard waiting for the new books to be published - this would be great to read in the wait for Bullet to hit shelves!

Ooo! I have so many theories about this series it's ridiculous, but I could always add a few more especially ones concerning Anita's vampire sex power. :D I can't wait for the next ABVH to come out in June. Will you be reading Bullet yourself?

Thank you! Ardeur sounds interesting, and your comment regarding the essays on Twilight being almost better than the novel make me even more curiosu to read it! I would like to read it because after all the Anita Blake hussle I've heard on the net in the past couple of years I'm intrigued (I ahve only read the first few novels yet). It would be interesting to see the novels from some perspective.

I'd like to read this book because I've read all the Anita Blake novels (and as many of the comics as I could find!) It should be interesting to hear others' opinions of what influences Anita. Hamilton's intros will be a nice bonus. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI want to read this book because Laurell K. Hamilton is awesome and her work is to die for. Truth is, I am a die hard fan of her work and would like to ravish this new baby.
ReplyDeletecindyc725 at gmail dot com
Anita Blake fan here, even though in the last few books LKH has turned the story line into something of a sexfest I am hanging in there because thinking there is light at the end of the tunnel and in book #17 "Skin Trade" I am finally seeing that light. I would love very much to read "Ardeur" for the insight it would afford me from others points of view including that of LKH herself on Anita Blake and where she originated and where we can possibly expect the series to take her in the future....
ReplyDeleteI am a GFC Follower and will tweet when finished posting comment here.

Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series is what got me started in the urban fantasy genre and I'll always love those characters! Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLadytink_534(at)yahoo(dot)com
I want this book because I have lost faith in Anita and if I finally understand her better, I may be able to love her again. LKH has such a special place in my heart. Two former loves and now good friends were fans of hers. The first introduced me to her and the 2nd I met through her message board. Anita and I go way back and I owe her another chance.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting this!
