"Falling from grace has never been more tempting"
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan.
She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her.
Not until Patch came along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.
But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.
Taschima's POV:
Nora is, gasp, just a typical high school student. She is living life like a normal person, with her share of problems, when one day she steps into Biology and finds this dark and dangerous guy sitting there. Then the teacher makes them switch partners and she is set up with, guess who, dark and sexy Patch. And even though she knows is not very smart, Nora feels the attraction, but, she also feels the danger. She can't help but wonder, what secrets may lie behind the cold mask.
Since the beginning of the story the plot is full of suspense. It really gets you engaged. The plot is pretty normal going, until like the middle of the story, then it jump kicks into gear. I thought some things should have not taken so long, maybe we should have learned more about the angels, but at the same time it was just right.
Is it only me, or did it resemble twilight just a little bit to any of those who have read it? Like a mirage? Or is it the media messing with my mind?
Nora is quiet, but brave. She didn't really left an impression with me. Only the brave part. Patch's character only help bring more suspense. The 'bad boy' all dressed in black, and ready to kick some ass. They were good characters, but not memorable. But I can guarantee you'll want a little of Patch by the end of the story. He is hot.
The end was exciting! So much happened! Actually since the beginning I had this feeling of being inserted into this YA Charlaine Harris novel. It had the mystery and suspense feel to it. And I liked that. And it was well written. Kept you guessing on some things. Other's, not so much.
Last but not least... Why is the title Hush, Hush?
Jessica Secret: Apparently she picked the title Hush, Hush due to all of the secrets Patch keeps from Nora.
Thank you Jessica ^^
Oh, oh, I can answer your question!
ReplyDeleteAccording to an interview I read of Becca Fitzpatrick, she said that the title was originally the title of a very popular young adult novel (my guess is one about a sparkly vanpire, since she did begin writing it in 2003), and she went back to the drawing board.
Apparently she picked the title Hush, Hush due to all of the secrets Patch keeps from Nora.
Oh, and by the way, there IS going to be a second book. It's titled Crescendo and is coming out...next year...I think...maybe....
Can you tell I LOVED it? Glad you did too!
You, Jessica, are a fountain of information. I thank you ^^
ReplyDeleteI loved it too! There are going to be 2 more books - can't wait for them!
ReplyDeleteSounds fun. Oh no. Not another series for me to get hooked on :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I now know why it was called Hush, Hush. :) I reviewed this a few weeks ago and felt similar to you, a little lukewarm. Liked it, but didn't flip for it.
ReplyDeleteLove this book!! I really like Patch..I was skeptical of him at first, but I enjoyed reading about him, I liked his hidden past and everything..kept the suspense flowing! Great review! :)
ReplyDelete-Arielle
it did have some similarities to twilight (like the two of them meeting in a SCIENCE class and how the guy tends to stalk them and be creepy/alluring at the same time *coughEDWARDcough*) but the similarities end there! I thought Hush hush was so refreshing :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Review! This book looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard anything but positive about this one. Can't wait to read it. And thank you to Jessica for the bit of trivia!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this one but didnt love it but I am really, really looking forward to Crescendo... apparently we are going to get more mythology in it *yay*
ReplyDeleteIt does sound pretty good, I think I'll add it to my TBR.
ReplyDeleteHush, Hush is a killer book, definitely the best one I've read this year... and one of the bests ever!
ReplyDeleteI was amazed by the atmosphere B. C. works with to thrill you because you know something very bad is going to happen. I didn't find any similarity with Charlaine Harris... I've actually read Dead Until Dark and didn't really like it.
And you're right... Patch is super hot.
Can't wait to Crescendo!
Thanks for the review. I've been debating on whether or not to read this one, and I appreciate your honest opinion about it. Some blog reviewers tend to rave on and on in praise or tear it down till there's nothing left, so I'm rather distrusting of their reviews. I'll check this one out. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThankYoou for the review !
ReplyDeleteI just got this book the other day and cannot wait to start reading it !
