Taschima's POV:

I enjoyed Of Poseidon, and yet I wasn't swept off my feet by it. It is one of those books that you get to enjoy but it doesn't make it into your favourites because it seems like it doesn't have that extra "wow". That thing that just makes it phenomenal. But still, it can totally be that book that you read to have fun, to enjoy the characters, and to be teased till your head feels like it's going to fall of with the romance.

The characters of Emma and Galen really complement each other. She is the feisty girl who doesn't like to be ordered around, and Galen is the spoiled prince who has never been questioned. She helps him be less stuck up, and he helps her be aware of her heritage. At the end of the day though, my favourite character was Galen, because he had so much to put on the table. His interactions with all of the characters were interesting, and fun. I don't particularly swoon when he comes into the picture but I can see where many ladies would be short of breath when he comes into the picture.

Oh and the romance. So teasing, I swear! I needed that though, I needed a romance that kept me at the edge of my seat and screaming "kiss her already man!".

The extra characters - Rayna, Galen's sister, Toraf, Galen's best friend, Chloe, Emma's best friend, Rachel, Galen's pretend mother and ex mob... They all had their parts to play of course. Rayna is very strong headed, and Toraf is basically in love with her. Their story could have had a lot of potential, if it hadn't been resolved so quickly, and so unexpectedly. Given Rayna's character I thought she was going to really have Toraf had it when a particular incident occurred, but let's just say that how that particular thing went down didn't make me happy. Still, I expect to see more of them in the future, and maybe their whole thing can be solved.

The ending was a bit rushed and it felt like a couple of chapters could have been added. I felt robed really, because it was such a cliffhanger! It isn't like I wasn't expecting the ending, but the way it ended left us with all sorts of questions and no answers what so ever. It does build up for the second book, but really I wanted to read it now!

All in all, I say pick it up. It is fun! And enjoyable, and really isn't that what we are searching for when we read? Who knows, it may end up being one of your favourites, it just isn't one of mine. But maybe the second book...

From Gale's POV

From Galen's POV:

"She grabs a fistful of his T-shirt. "Are you sleeping with her?"

Sleeping... Didn't Rachel say sleeping and mating are the same thing? Dating and mating are similar. But sleeping and mating are the exact same. He shakes his head. "No, ma'am."
She raises a no-nonsense brow. "Why not? What's wrong with my daughter?" 

That is unexpected. He suspects this woman can sense a lie like Toraf can track Rayna. All she's looking for is honesty, but the real truth would just get him arrested. I'm crazy about your daughter-I'm just saving her for my brother. So he reasons his answer with the frankness she seems to crave. "There's nothing wrong with your daughter, Mrs. McIntosh. I said we're not sleeping together. I didn't say I didn't want to."

Yeah, Gale is sort of weird, he can go from formal to charming in a flat second, but the moments that have made me want to laugh (second quote) or made me think in how true those words are (first quote) have all been with him. Don't get me wrong, the protagonist isn't bad, she has a healthy temper and when she is speaking to Galen in specific is very fun to read, but I think in this installment I am leaning towards Gale being the most interesting of the two (and thus my favorite in the story). I started reading this book today, sat down and figured I would read about 50-100 pages and then  move on with homework... stopped at page 250 and only because I was interrupted. I could have honest to God finished this book in one sitting. There is just something about the romance tension between Gale and Emma that is just interesting to read about (specially if you were low on teenage romance, which I was). Still there is more interesting things to this book, like the mythology behind the Syrenas (which is just Spanish for mermaid) and the extra characters which are just a delight (specially Toraf, there is just something about the male characters in this novel). It isn't like the plot has rocked my world, but so far I have enjoyed reading this book immensely. Review to come soon!

To be completely honest this book wasn't even in my radar, but thank god for Facebook! The cover looks soo cool. Kind of weird, but cool. This will be a good add to Zombie lovers, and to any Gena Showalter fan, I haven't read anything by her, so I might just start with this book. Go zombies! What do you think?
