I started reading Fracture by Megan Miranda

...and I already love the main character's best friend, Decker. I don't care is he doesn't turn out to be the main love interest, he stole my heart in the first 10 pages. It's pretty early on so I think I will share. Basically the main character girl, Delaney, goes under the freezing water, and has been in a coma for 6 days from which everybody thought she would never wake up, but then she does and the first thing she basically says is "Where's Decker?" because the last thing she saw was Decker running over to her to help her. She was under the water for 11 minutes, under the freezing lake water. And once she awakes Decker runs over to the room, sees she is awake, and just starts sobbing next to her. This big athletic guy just sobs his ass off. This is where I decided that I absolutely loved him. I love when you feel instant connections with your characters, don't you? Has this ever happened to you? Like, you instantly love a character? Fictional love at first read?
