Twilight meets The Princess Diaries in the new series from the author of Honeymoon of the Dead
On her sixteenth birthday, Anastasija Parker learns that her so-called deadbeat dad is actually a vampire king. And he wants Ana to assume her rightful position at his side, in spite of the fact that she has witch's blood running through her veins-from her mother's side.
Too bad witches and vampires are mortal enemies. And now Ana's parents are at each other's throats over her future. It's up to Ana to make a choice, but deciding your eternal destiny is a pretty big deal for a girl who just wants to get through high school.
Taschima:
**Don't get fooled by the Twilight Meets whatever, this series is NOT like Twilight. Now the Princess Diaries part may be a bit right**
Truth time. When I first opened the pages to this book my reactions to the main character were negative. I thought I would never sympathize with her. I mean, they gave me a girl who just turned 16 and that does nothing but whine and complain about her birthday and how uneventful it is. I almost put it down to be revisited at another time, but something told me to keep going. Maybe it was the shadow of action, or the complicated plot line that the author was trying to build, so I kept reading...
And thank the heavens I did. Not only does the main character redeems herself, but the plot gets thicker and better.
Witches and Vampires (which is a puff of fresh air since it's always Bats VS Puppies) are both fighting this ancient war and in the middle of the war is Anastajia -that's the MC's name, but let's just call her Ana ok? She prefers it. And the thing is, she has no idea. She has been taught all her life the Wiccan ways, and that's the only thing she knows. And not even at that she succeeds, which is why not only does her father, the vampire king, bring lots of questions along with him but also lot's of welcome answers. Now she is stuck between two worlds, and the question is, which will she choose?
As I told you before, at first sight, or first pages, the book seems like any other, but as you continue reading it's uniqueness blooms and you get stuck in it's pages, not being able to move, to hear, or see anything else but the book.
At least that's how it was for me. I started the book a couple of days ago, just read a few pages at work, but last night it got to the point where I could not stop reading. It was a great rush, and I finish the book in one sitting. By the time it ended I was so freaking surprised!
The ending though seemed a bit rushed, like the author was running out of pages. It was a good ending, Oh good, but the resolution seemed too easy and lil bit unbelievable. Mind you it's not the LAST resolution because this book is a series, so yay!
I can't wait to see what else comes out of Tate Hallway's mind, and what other tumults Ana's journey to find herself and end an ancient war has.
Cover Rating: The girl in the cover is more or less how I picture the girl in the book, and not because it's the girl in the cover but because that is how she is described. I also like the font, pwetty.
I really enjoyed Tate's adult series so I need to pick this one up! Great review!

ReplyDeleteI LOLed at the bat vs puppies thing. ;) Hmm, I didn't even know about this series but it sounds really good! (and yes, I'll ignore the twilight reference...Although the Princess Diaries thing made me go o.O!?) Great review my friend :)

I really like Tate Hallaway so I'll definitely read this. I was so upset when I heard that her Garnet Lacey books were cancelled.
ReplyDeleteFor my 16th, it was -30*C. We went out to Chinese while I was wearing Happy Bunny pajama pants over my sweats 'cause it was so cold.
ReplyDelete@Lori Hehe thanks!
ReplyDelete@ThePiratePenguin The princess diaries thing is mostly because she just discovers she is a princess, but her reaction would be pretty standard xD
@Briana totally ;)
