Title: Succubus Shadows
Author: Richelle Mead
Series: Georgina Kincaid
Book #: 5
Pages: 281
Reading Level: Adult
Goodreads Rating: 4.27
Published: March 30, 2010
Georgina Kincaid has formidable powers. Immortality, seduction, shape-shifting into any human form she desires, walking in heels that would cripple mere mortals -- all child's play to a succubus like her.
Helping to plan her ex-boyfriend's wedding is a different story. Georgina isn't sure which is worse -- that Seth is marrying another woman, or that Georgina has to run all over Seattle trying on bridesmaid dresses. Still, there are distractions. Georgina's roommate, Roman, is cluttering her apartment with sexual tension. Then there's Simone, the new succubus in town, who's intent on corrupting Seth.
But the real danger lies in the mysterious force that's visiting her thoughts, trying to draw her into a dark, otherworldly realm. Sooner or later, Georgina knows she'll be too weak to resist. And when that happens, she'll discover who she can trust, who she can't -- and that Hell is far from the worst place to spend eternity...
Taschima's POV:
Okay, so half this book was sort of a drag since it was dream after dream after dream after dream (yawn)... But the dreams did have a purpose. It help the reader know more about Georgina's past. It was nice, but not overly exciting. After the fact though, that's when the book got exciting and fun.
One thing that I found interesting about this book is how Georgina, and thus Richelle, picks up on the fact that Georgina's life is going round and round. Book after book she is involved in some supernatural fiasco, and, as Georgina asks herself, why her? I think it's pretty cool how the author lets her main character pick up on this, because that's how books like these drive the story right? Supernatural fiasco after the next, and no one ever asks "why am I involved in this again?" So I thought that was a nice touch. Hell seems very interested in Georgina's life, and contract. We get some questions answered in this installment, like who the man in the dream is, but we are still left with questions about Georgina's contract with hell... More questions by the very end that make you want that much more Succubus Revealed.
Georgina's romantic life is still in pieces. Seth, as you learned in the last book if you read it, is getting married to Maggie because of his guilt over sleeping with Georgina (something you also would know if you read the earlier book). Georgina is not taking this too well, but I think she is dealing with it as best as she can. Roman is back, and along with him all his sexyness. It seems Georgina is once again stuck between two men, the one who wants her and who is essentially the safe and good choice for her (Roman) and the one who is her world but who is the more dangerous relationship for her and himself (Seth). The way things end up in this book are a little WTF-ish, but let's see how the next book ends.
This is book #5 in the Georgina series. The next one is the last... I don't want it to end though! I like diving into Georgina's life and problems book after book, it will be weird when it is over. She is such a good character! I like her, with or without powers, she is just special and entertaining to read about. I will have to pick up Richelle's other series Dark Swan (I think that one has something to do with faeries) after I am finished with Succubus Revealed.
As always, do yourself a favor and pick up this series!
