Would You Read Me? Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover (2)

Last week's book was... For Darkness Shows the Stars

For Darkness Shows the Stars
by Diana Peterfreund
Hardcover, 384 pages
Expected publication: June 12th 2012
by Balzer + Bray

It is a jaw dropping cover, very a la Across the Universe. I specially like the font, and how the colors come together.

So, here is how it went:

-11- said "hell's yeah I'll read it!"
-8- said "Maybe..."
-6- "Nah, not my style/ Nah"

After seeing the cover, how many of your minds have changed?

On to the next one then!

Let's play another little game shall we? I am going to give you guys a summary of a book that may or may not sound good (you be the judge) but I am not going to give you an image to accompany the book. This way we can find out if you would read it or not even if the image of the book sucks a lot.

There’s something strange and deadly loose in Philadelphia…
Eleanor Fitt has a lot to worry about. Her brother has gone missing, her family has fallen on hard times, and her mother is determined to marry her off to any rich young man who walks by. But this is nothing compared to what she’s just read in the newspaper—
The Dead are rising in Philadelphia.
And then, in a frightening attack, a zombie delivers a letter to Eleanor…from her brother.
Whoever is controlling the Dead army has taken her brother as well. If Eleanor is going to find him, she’ll have to venture into the lab of the notorious Spirit-Hunters, who protect the city from supernatural forces. But as Eleanor spends more time with the Spirit-Hunters, including their maddeningly stubborn yet handsome inventor, Daniel, the situation becomes dire. And now, not only is her reputation on the line, but her very life may hang in the balance.
So, now, all you have to do is say if you would read it or not!
(Yes or no will suffice if you don't wanna write a lot)

Next Wednesday I will post a new summary with no image,
I will also post the cover and book information of this week.

PS; If you know the name, image or whatever of this book do not say anything. Don't give any sort of information away please.

  1. Maybe... I love zombie books, but I would have to think about it! (:

  2. I was going to say "yes" until the "but handsome Daniel" part...can we have the male counterpart be mentioned in a synopsis without mentioning how good he looks please? So now its a maybe :).

I like this feature of yours.

  3. I'd probably still say yes to last week's book - cover is ok.

This week's book gets a Maybe. could be good but not convinced.

  5. @Sandy I knoooow!! It ALWAYS pisses me off when they do that, oh yes we are going to love this guy because he is SO handsome... Give me a break.

@Nicole aaww. Don't worry, I don't do zombies most of the time either...

  7. I think I might read this. It sounds a little like the Forrest of Hands and Teeth books. Just a little. Enough to have me interested!

And I'd still say yes to last weeks book.

  8. I would read it. The thing with zombie books is that it is almost guaranteed to be fast-paced and full of action and near-misses.

And also for last week's book, well. I said I might not read it. I'm still not sure, but my mind is now a bit torn with that revelation. I never actually read the synopsis of that book - I didn't even know who the author was! Haha, so yeah that's made me think a bit.

  10. I was interested...until I saw the zombie part. Not really a fan of Zombies BUT if the cover was great and it got some good reviews from bloggers I trust, I might give it a go.

  11. Last week's doesn't look how I'd imagined but I'd still read it. If I see a copy, I'll probably pick it up when I otherwise wouldn't have done, which I guess is the point! :)

This week's is a no, though. I'm not so good with zombies either!

  13. I would still read the first one. And I wouldn't read the one about the zombies. The summary bored me to tears. Aside from zombies, its the same basic plot: disappearence, supernatural being comes out to 'play', meeting this handsome fellow that holds the answer to save the world, but in the end its her. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the book will turn bad since I haven't read it; but right now I want something more intriging than reading about "love conquers all".

  14. @Monica I completely understand what you are saying, you guys are going to have a field day with the one for next week, it's ridiculous. I guess authors are stuck in a mindset, we just need someone who is brave enough to come out of the confort zone and give us something new.

  15. Can't say I've heard of this one, but I think I'd probably read it. I really like books about siblings in danger and what each would risk to keep the other safe, so yeah, bring on the Philly Zombies!

    Smiles!
