Gotta Read It:The Fiery Heart, Bloodlines #4 by Richelle Mead, Excerpt (From Sydney's POV- 4 pages!), Mini Excerpt (From Adrian's POV), and Quote (by Abe Mazur)!!

I dare not read the longer excerpt since it might mean spoilers if you haven't read The Indigo Spell, but I figure I'd post it here for you guys! A compilation of what Richelle Mead has posted on her fabulous Facebook page about The Fiery Heart.

The min-excerpt is told from Adrian's POV, and is pretty non-spoilery so I went ahead and read it (like I could have stopped myself even if there was spoiler, right?) It is pretty freaking awesome, here:

"Rowena Clark and I had met on the first day of our mixed media class.  I’d sat down at her table and said, “Mind if I join you?  Figure the best way to learn about art is to sit with a masterpiece.”  Maybe I was in love, but I was still Adrian Ivashkov.

Rowena had fixed me with a flat look.  “Let’s get one thing straight.  I can see through crap a mile away, and I like girls, not guys, so if you can’t handle me telling you what’s what, then you’d better take your one-liners and hair gel somewhere else.  I don’t go to this school to put up with pretty boys like you.  I’m here to face dubious employment options with a painting degree and then go get a Guinness after class.”

I’d scooted my chair closer to the table.  “You and I are going to get along just fine.

This guy is hilarious, and I am loving this Rowena chick! If you guys would like to see Richelle Mead's comment on the mini-excerpt CLICK HERE.

Want more? There is also an even LONGER (4 pages) excerpt from Sydney's POV. For that CLICK HERE.

And finally, the promised quote from Abe Mazur:

I need to get my hands on The Indigo Spell, ASAP!

Review: Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)
Title: Clockwork Angel
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: The Infernal Devices
Book #: 1
Pages: 476
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: Photobucket
Goodreads Rating: 4.27
Published: August 31st, 2010

Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Taschima's POV:

With a heavy heart I have to admit that Clockwork Angel wasn't as bad as it could have been. It was actually pretty darn enjoyable. After reading City of Fallen Jerks I thought I would never enjoy anything written by Cassandra Clare ever again (after she so ruined the perfect ending of City of Glass with a continuation) but Clockwork Angel made me remember why I fell in love with City of Bones in the first place. The danger, the obscure world of the Nephilim, the head wrecking romance... all set in Victorian London with gorgeous dresses, proper manners, and Mr. Darcy-esque romance? Sign me up!

I think the summary of the book explains it quite well, so no long summaries here. Just know that Tessa was kidnapped when she arrived on London by the Dark Sisters, was tortured/trained to learn her abilities (woah! She can change into anybody she wants) and was then rescued by Will. This sets everything in motions, and since I am pretty much certain I was the last person on the island to read this book I bet you guys know this as well as I do. Bravo, let's continue...

The pros of this book:

-The world of the Nephilim. It's pretty much as awesome as the City of Bones one, though still bound by the rules of the time. But only when it comes to Tessa, and servants. The Nephilim live by a different set of rules (like for example calling people by their first names) though in some respects they are still heavy with the time's norms (women shouldn't have as much power as men- poor Charlotte).

-The relationship between Will and Jem. Couldn't this book be men on men romance? These two guys are so in sync with each other, and they made me laugh with their banter. Plus, they take care of each other so well... I can't help but be a proud supporter of the Will/Jem team. Screw the possibility of Tess/Will! I might have a tiny crush on Jem, he is just so special and kind.

description

-Although Tessa at first seem to be a tad, well, girlie/not accepting of the Xena complex, by the end of the novel she grew up enough for me to respect her. I also liked how clever she was, that ending scene between her and the Magister was golden. I am really looking forward to reading more books with her as the main character. Though, in order for me to further love her she MUST be trained by the Nephilim to fight.

-Nice, quick read on all accounts. The dialogue was funny, full of banter (specially when Will was around) and just overall easy to get lost in. A lot like City of Bones really, but at the same time very different.

The cons of the book:

-Will. Am I supposed to be falling all over myself for this guy? He has his moments of clarity (in which I feel my heart flutter for him) but for most of the book he acts like a total jerk towards Tess. I love a cold bad boy as much as the next girl (Ash from The Iron King, and even Jace in City of Bones at times) but Will was cold to the extent that it turned me off. Again, Mr. Darcy complex, but even when watching that movie I was turned off by Mr. Darcy until he professed his love and was less of a jerk face. Sigh, well see what happens in the next few books.

-No foreseeable relationship between Will and Jem. I am seriously bothered by this.

description

I shall read the next book. I guess I was a little apprehensive due to the failure of the fourth Mortal Instruments books, so that's why I didn't listen to my friends when they told me this series was different/better. But, Clockwork Angel ain't half bad. Maybe it's because it's a fresh story and Miss Clare isn't trying to continue something that is better left alone (have you guessed how much I hated that last book yet?). What's even better is that since I've read this years after it being published that means I can just buy the sequel in a few minutes. HA HA!

Lover At Last, by J.R. Ward, 7 Page Excerpt!!

Today is the release date for 3 novels I've been dying to read: Lover at Last by J.R. Ward, Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost, and With all My Soul by Rachel Vincent.

However, Lover at Last is the one I've been waiting for the longest, so that is the first one I am sinking my teeth into. According to Amazon the book should be at my doorstep today (better be, or there will be hell to pay), and I cannot wait to be done with classes. But for those who are still waiting for the book to reach them here is a Excerpt, posted by Penguin on Facebook, of Lover At Last.

It seems someone stole Quinn's car, and he ain't happy about it.

Divergent Movie Cast News: Divergent Character Casting Round Up (Tori, Christina, Caleb, Eric, Four, Jeanine, Edwardm AL, Will, and Tris)

If you are anything like me then you are scratching your head right now trying, in vain maybe, to remember
who exactly these people are supposed to be. No worries though, I shall tell you exactly who these people are supposed to be portraying with a little help from Divergent Wiki.

Maggie G as "Tori"

She is Dauntless all right...
Maggie Q: Best known for Nikita.

Tori: She was the one who oversaw and administered Tris' aptitude test, discovering and telling her that she was a Divergent and the dangers that came with being one.

Zoe Kravitz as Christina

I can totally see this girl as Christina.
Zoe Kravitz: was in X-Men First Class (an AWESOME movie)

Christina: She transferred to Dauntless from Candor, and was Tris' first and best enemy during her initiation into Dauntless. She was first introduced when she helped Tris onto the Train after the Choosing Ceremony. Christina befriends Tris and becomes a vital part in the beginning of Tris' new life in Dauntless.

Ansel Elgort as Caleb

Sure, I don't care much about Caleb anyhow.
Ansel Elgort: NEWBIE!

Caleb: The older brother of Beatrice Prior and the son of Andrew and Natalie Prior. This secret persona is ultimately revealed on the day of his Choosing Ceremony, where he chooses Erudite as his faction. Before the Choosing Ceremon, Caleb subtly hints to his sister, Beatrice, that she has the option to transfer if she is having the same conflicting feelings as him. On the day of choosing, he and Beatrice chose to abandon their family for different factions. He then becomes an Erudite.

Jai Courtney as Eric

This guy seems a little old to play Eric... Eric is supposed to be 18, this guy looks 30...
Jai Courtney: from Spartacus

Eric: A Dauntless leader who was an Erudite transfer. Eric became Four's nemesis during their initiation as Four finished first in their class, and Eric was second; he has hated Four ever since. Eric is harsh on the initiates during their training, even going so far as to force Christina to hang over the Chasm for five minutes as punishment for surrendering in a fight.

Theo James as Four

Hotness^2. Seriously, you can be my Tobias any day...
Theo James: was in Underworld: Awakening

Tobias/Four: Tobias Eaton, more prominently known as Four, is one of the main characters in Divergent and Insurgent and is the son of Evelyn and Marcus Eaton. Alongside Lauren (instructor of Dauntless-born initiates), he is the instructor of the transfer initiates. He is the boyfriend of Beatrice "Tris" Prior later on in the book.

Kate Winslet as Jeanine

Oh, this is BOUND to be good, she is going to kick ass.
Kate Winslet: Titanic, anyone?

Jeanine: Jeanine is the sole representative of Erudite in the government council effectively making her the most powerful Erudite member. She makes many articles based off lies about Abnegation in order to smear bad faith towards the faction. This tactic would lead to people doubting whether Abnegation is actually selfless but rather a faction hoarding greed for themselves. She, along with Eric, began the second war.

Ben Lamb as Edward
couldn't find a better picture...

Edward: The night after the rankings were posted, Edward was stabbed in the eye with a butter knife.

Yes, we kind of remember this guy.

Ben Lloyd-Hughes as Will

Aw, Will...  You look great, yet a little bit old?

Will: Will was a transfer from Erudite. He had memorized a map of the city for fun, and memorized the manifestos of all of the different factions. During initiation, he met Tris, Christina, and Al, mainly because he wasn't friends with Edward and Myra and didn't want to be a third wheel to the couple. These four constantly fought against Peter, Drew and Molly.

Christian Madsen as AL

All these actors seem a bit old for their parts... :/
AL is 16...
AL: Al is a kind-hearted boy who doesn't like the idea of hurting people. He transferred to Dauntless because he admired their bravery. His parents' admiration for the Dauntless also influenced his decision.

Shailene Woodley as Tris

Tris: Beatrice "Tris" Prior is the main protagonist and narrator of the Divergent series. She is a strong-willed sixteen-year-old girl who hates showing weakness. Though Tris was born in the faction Abnegation, she eventually transferred to Dauntless and must face the fact that she is Divergent. When she arrived in her new faction, she opted for a change of name to go by. She decided to use Tris as a nickname for Beatrice, hoping for a fresh start in a new faction.

More than a few of these actors seem a bit too old for the part, but I guess make up does wonders? Hopefully? Still, I like most of them, so I am hoping for the best!

Cover Reveal: Daylighters (Morganville Vampires, #15) by Rachel Caine

 photo excited_zpsc069ef27.gif

The cover is out, the cover is out!!! Daylighters is the 15th book in the Morganville Vampire series. 15th!!

Daylighters (Morganville Vampires, #15)

It's so different from the other covers. Full of light. I like the model, and the background. The purple color... I loves it! Can't wait for this book, even if it IS the end of the series T_T (I am 99% positive it is the end of the series, though I wouldn't complain if we got more books...) Fall of Night (Book #14) was awesome, and the cliffhanger ending left me in pieces. November 2013 is going to be a great month! If anybody wishes to send me Daylighters as a birthday present, be my guest.

Review + Giveaway: The Eternity Cure (The Immortal Rules #2) by Julia Kagawa

The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden, #2)
Title: The Eternity Cure
Author: Julie Kagawa
Series: Blood of Eden
Book #: 2
Pages: 428
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: Photobucket
Goodreads Rating: 4.50
T.B.Published: April 23rd, 2013

Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

Taschima's POV:

Fight it as long as you want–in the end, the monster always wins.

Oh, I'm sorry, did Julie Kagawa hit it out of the park again? I think she did! The Eternity Cure is all we have been waiting for! No terrible second book lag, in fact if I was to be honest this one might have been a bit more action packed than the first! Every other page Allison had her weapon out, ready to kick some serious butt! Full of extremely graphic scenes, and an ever moving plot, The Eternity Cure is sure to satisfy fans all around the world and leave you screaming your head off for more!

We start off months after Allison leaves Eden behind her. She is searching for Kanin, her mentor and and quite frankly her friend. When, believing she has found Kanin, she stumbles onto someone she didn't expect. Her journey then leads her back to where it all started, New Covington, her place of birth as well as death.
description
Allison Sekemoto
So characters. Let's start off with Allison. She is just as awesome, just as kick ass. I didn't find any faults in her character, not realy. She is just so determined to save everyone, turning into a vampire has made her just that much more human. Specially when it comes to a blue eyed boy we love so much...
description
Ezekiel Crosse
He is in the novel. Don't be shocked, did you really think we would go the whole book without some Zeke? I won't exactly let on when he appears or why, but I am just glad he did! It lets us feel some of that sexual tension they got going on between them, plus Zeke seems to have grown up since last we saw him. He is less angelic and more edgy, with a rougher exterior. Kicking ass and taking names! He is really on a vendetta to kill the vampire who ruined his life, which leads us to...

description
Jackal
"Next time you two decide to go on a bloody killing spree, at leat send me an invitatin so I know that you care."
----
"Oh, don't mind me," came an extremely sarcastic voice near the wall. "You two go ahead and make out–I'll just sit here and bleed quietly."
Can I just say, that Jackal may have been my favorite part of The Eternity Cure? I am not porud of it, but I mean, seriously, I know he is (was?) the bad guy in The Immortal Rules, but Jackal is just.... hilarious! He is evil damon in Vampire Diaries season 1, only MORE evil and slighly crazy. He is really the comic relief the series was lacking in the previous novel. Allison is just so serious and determined, which is great really but you also need that character that in every other line will make you chuckle. Jackal is that guy.

description
Kanin
Also Kanin is in the novel, what a surprise. There are some very sweet moments between him and Allison. We get to listen to his and Jackal's back story which was great because I wanted more backstory into Kanin's character. So we get to understand more about both characters's backgrounds.

The novel was written in a way that made you feel as if you where there. There was a part when Allison was describing a room that was used for torture that was just so horrific and bloody. I can really picture the novel as if it was a movie, which is great for when the novel actually becomes a movie (rights have een optioned out already). And we get a new type of virus that just makes things even MORE interesting. The Eternity Cure really never misses a beat.

I liked how in the end Julie doesn't use the same old tired trick. It would be a spoiler for me to say what she does so beautifully, but let's just say she doesn't insult our intelligence, or leave us questioning. She wonderfully sets up the plot for the next Blood of Eden novel with a bit of a cliffhanger, but one that doesn't intend to make you wonder as much? More like HIGHLY anticipate what is going to happen next. Oh yeah, I am REALLY wanting to read the next book!

Lesson learned. I was a monster. I would never forget that again...

Sweet Peril, sequel to Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins, Yummy Teasers!!

Because Wendy Higgins is so totally awesome she has decided that each month she will be torturing us with a little teaser from Sweet Peril. It's been four months since she promised that, and so here I've compiled a list of teasers for your pleasure! Sweet Peril is one of my most anticipated reads of this year, and the teasers are to die for. Make me want to cry since I don't have the book now!

Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy, #2)

(This is the first time Anna and Kai see each other after the New Year's summit in NYC.)
The look in his eyes dared me to pull away again. I sunk my fingers into the hair at the nape of his neck.
“I’m trying to talk to you,” I said.
“Yes, I know. But I’d rather not.”
In one step he had me against the table, the back of my thighs hitting the edge as he pressed his body flush against mine.
A whimpering gasp sounded from my lips.
I tried not to stutter, grasping his hair tighter. “I need you to be serious.”
His blue eyes scorched me. “Oh, I’ve never been more serious.”
*   *   *
He’d hurt me plenty, and I refused to be his punching bag.
I wanted to stare Kaidan down, but when he turned to face me I was distracted by the girth of body beneath his face. I eyed the layers of muscle in his arms, chest, and abs. He was ripped!
Was he living at the gym these days? His already toned belly now boasted a six-pack. Muscles didn’t usually do it for me, but I had to admit his tall frame wore it well. I swallowed and looked back up where he’d been patiently waiting for me to finish my perusal.
I cleared my throat and crossed my arms.
*   *   *
“If this is about earlier, we were only kidding around,” Blake said.
“I told you she can be stubborn when she wants, didn’t I?” Kaidan asked, stretched out on his chair with his hands behind his head. “You didn’t believe me.”
“I’m not being stubborn!” I put my hands on my hips and scowled down at him, wondering if maybe I was being stubborn. He raised an eyebrow when I said, “And you have no room to talk. You’re a mule.”
Blake laughed and pointed at Kai. “She just called you an ass, man.”
“I am an ass-man,” Kai stated.
Blake laughed harder and I rolled my eyes.
*   *   *
I inched closer. I wanted to kiss him, but this would be no tame kiss. A low sound rumbled in the back of his throat and his fingers tightened on my sides. I shouldn’t push him when we were both like this, but I wanted to. He’d once told me I was playing with fire. I felt the tip of the flame now, the threat of being singed. I wanted to give in to that temptation and make him lose control. Mentally, I smacked myself, and the angel and demon girls within me brawled. Kicking. Screaming. Teeth and nails.
Yowsa! There is soo much HEAT in this novel! But then again, Kaidan is here so of course there is heat!!

Divergent Casting Movie News: Tobias, aka Four, has been cast!

This may come as a shock to some, but I am here only to write/sing praise. I actually like who they cast as Four!!

Tobias' Description:
Age 18. He has a spare upper lip, and a full lower lip. His eyes are so deep-set that his eyelashes touch the skin under his eyebrows, and they are dark blue, a dreaming sleeping, waiting color. His voice is deep, and it rumbles. He smirks. He has a stillness about him. He appears tame from the front, by Dauntless standards, but there is a tattoo that peeks out from the back of his t-shirt. His fingers are so long that, the heel of his hand touches one side of Tris’s ribcage, and his fingertips still touch the other side. He is quiet, remarkably self-possessed, and intimidating. He has a faint hollow beneath his cheekbone and taut, defined forearms. His voice is low and smooth and almost soothing. The corners of his mouth turn down naturally and he has a scar on his chin. Even when he glares, his eyes look thoughtful. Their shade of blue is peculiar, so dark it is almost black, with a small patch of lighter blue on the left iris, right next to the corner of his eye. He is muscular, nothing on his body yields. His hair is dark, almost black, especially when he cuts it short.
Theo James:

Dazzling smile... Check.

Dangerous vibe... double check.

A complete hottie... check, check, check!!!

Walk walk, Tobias...

He has his faults (maybe a tad too old looking? but make up can solve that little issue). Not to mention Tobias is supposed to be wise beyond his years and what not. He is Tris' "teacher" and all. Make up and contacts are an easy solution, but the vibe that he has cannot be made up.

Theo: Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Taschima: You're welcome ;)
Make me proud Theo.
