Holy hell! It's like I woke up today and all these amazing covers just appeared in Goodreads out of nowhere (and I am always lurking around there so I would know). My absolute favorite is A Fractured Light, oh my god it looks incredible. But most anticipated? Speed of Light by Amber Kizer. It's the only series I've read from this list to be honest, well not true, I also read Dreaming Anastasia #1 just never continued it. I really want to read the rest of these series, specially A Beautiful Dark and Lost Voices.
Which one is your favorite cover out of these? Most anticipated?

Cover Reveal: Black City by Elizabeth Richards

Ready?
Black City (Black City Chronicles, #1)
Expected publication: November 13th 2012
by G.P. Putnam's Sons BYR
"A dark and tender postapocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war.
In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection, that causes Ash’s long dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong. When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths."
The cover looks COOL. It looks powerful, shattering... I like it. I am thinking Darklings are Fae? Faeries right? Well, Darklings and romance... A song that has been played before, but every author has their own tune. Sign me up for this one!

The moment Ellie sets foot in the small town of Skavapol, she stumbles into a mystery that will change her forever. Boys are disappearing under impossible circumstances, and kids in town blame her. Strange and terrifying forces are at work in their tiny corner of Norway and Ellie and Tucker are the only ones who stop them and rescue Graham.

Another title more to add to our ever growing pile of To Read books. But it sounds so good!! And look at that cool cover, it looks super awesome and creepy. Ingrid Paulson won the cover lottery here.

Like it? Are you going to add it to your wish list?

Teaser Tuesday: Balthazar by Claudia Gray

Hardcover, 374 pages
Expected publication: March 6th 2012

Teaser #1:
"Balthazar caught up with her not far away; she'd stopped by a large dark horse, evidently hers, and kneeled by its front hooves. Lorenzo was nowhere to be seen, and the woods around them were silent. The danger seemed to have passed for the moment, but she couldn't have known that. He said, "You'd have done better to run."
"If you won the fight, I didn't have to run. If you lost, it wouldn't have done any good. The other vampire was faster than me."
Which was a good point, actually. He liked her steadiness in the face of danger."
Teaser #2:
"Skye looked up at him, and her face revealed more of her vulnerability, and her gratitude, than words could. For a moment, he felt a surge of protectiveness -and something else besides-
No humans, he thought. It was an old rule of his."
I really like Skye, and Balthazar always was sort of handsome in that dark and mysterious way. I still really dislike these covers, they suck. I just hope that this book, and their relationship, is better than the Evernight series (I was not a big fan of the final book, or the one before that one... basically the moment she died -Bianca- and became a wraith I wasn't on board). How excited are you about Balthazar? About him and Skye? About Skye?

Mid-terms week! Which means...

That I will have to take a little blogging hiatus. I love blogging, but college comes first. I will resume my blogging duties on Friday, and will announce the Pandemonium winner today or tomorrow.

A little reminder... Pandemonium is out tomorrow!!! How exciting is that?!

The Best of 2012

I am going to start a list about this year's book highlights. The one's that I read that were the very best will go on this list. They will go in order of when I read them, not in order of best to worst because if they are in this list it means that they are all equally awesome, they are just different when it comes to reason's for being awesome. Hopefully you can get ideas from this list as to which books to tackle next in your TBR pile.
Hopefully there will be more added to this list through the year.

Review: If I Die (Soul Screamers #5) by Rachel Vincent

Title: If I Die
Author: Rachel Vincent
Series: Soul Screamers
Book #: 5
Pages: 342
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating:
Goodreads Rating: 4.48
Published: Sept. 27, 2011
by Harlequin

The entire school's talking about the gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck. Everyone except Kaylee Cavanaugh. After all, Kaylee's no ordinary high-school junior. She's a banshee—she screams when someone dies.
But the next scream might be for Kaylee.

Yeah—it's a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee's going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend's needy ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren't quite human, either.

But Kaylee's borrowed lifeline is nearing its end. And those who care about her will do anything to save her life.

Anything.

Taschima's POV:

Can this series GET any better? All the past books, they were solid 4 stars. Rachel Vincent, much like her main character Kaylee, doesn't back down from a fight and she isn't afraid of dealing with the tough issues while walking the line between black and white. I love her for it. No one could have written it any better.

All I have to say is that this book is a solid 5 star. If I Die is by far the best in the Soul Screamer series, for various reasons. One, Kaylee doesn't get to live forever. Even though she damn well deserves it, she is forced to deal with her expiration date a lot sooner than we thought it was going to be necessary. It is very interesting, not to mention fun as hell, to see a free Kaylee, not bound by social rules or expectations. Second reason this book kicked ass: The relationships. I don't want to give anything away, but the romantic relationships in this book get very complicated. Kaylee realises some things about Tod (about time really), and then has to make a decision between brothers. But I don't wanna give anything away, so read the book. Third reason this book was so awesome, Tod. I love him, like you have no idea. He is, wow. Since the very first book I was always team Tod. I think Nash is kind of an ass, and a boring ass at that. But Tod? Is major leagues. Another thing I loved? The outcome of the book, the ending, took me by surprise. My speculations weren't far off, but it still took me by surprise.

This book was just what the series needed to make me a faithful and loyal fan. Before it was fine, but now? It's mind blowingly good. I cannot wait for the next book in the series, Before I Wake. Can I have it now? Pretty please? I have to know what happens next!

PS; Who cares about Kaylee's boring powers anymore? SHE KICKS ASS! She doesn't need any awesome powers, because she can manage to capture your attention all on her own.

The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra - Exclusive Trailer and Post War Information

I am a fan of Avatar: The last Airbender, and though I am sad that it seems that in this "sequel" of sorts the Aang gang has died (yeah, found some info online guys) I am also a little glad we get to see a bit of this world's future. Anyways, here is the trailer:

At first I thought Korra was Aang's daughter, but she is not. Instead we get to see Aang's only airbender son Tenzin (click for more detailed info on the character), who doesn't seem to be half as much fun as Aang was.

Tenzin and his Family

I say Aang should have been spreading his seed through the country to make a lot of air bender babies, but that is just me. Tenzin seems to have 3 airbending children, and another child on the way. Still this is slow progress on the airbending line- should have slept around Aang.

To be honest, I am more into this series because it will give us a glimpse at what happen to the gang. What happened to Zuko? Did he manage to find his mother? What happened to Toph? I know Toph has a daughter (Bei Fong) and starts teaching earthbenders Metal Bending (she makes an academy and all, how f ing cool is that?) What happened to Sokka? (it seems no one knows). We all know what happened to Katara, she married Aang and started popping out babies.

Something that brightened my day? Aang finds an island filled with lost flying bison, along with a new type of winged-lemur, the ring-tailed winged-lemur. Even the animals get a happy ending in this story.

PS; All the linked name's go to their page @Avatar Wikia. Here is where I found all my information and where you can find more info as to what happen to our beloved characters After The War.

Cover Revealed: Glass Heart (Cold Kiss #2) by Amy Garvey

I didn't read the first novel, I should, but I like the cover! It's all pink and simple, I specially like the font.

Add it to your To-Read list!

Discussion Post: If I Die... My Theory

If I Die (Soul Screamers, #5)
THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM BOOKS 1-4
but it is fairly in the beginning of this book so I will only be speculating.

Read at your own risk.

Right now I am on page 119 of If I Die, and while on a normal day I would have finished the book by now I am trying to keep up with blogging (making up for lost time) and trying to make As in college (3 midterms next week... oh life you bitch) but yesterday while I was doing my hair I got to thinking, because on this novel Kaylee's borrowed time is up and she is about to die in 4 days, on the possible outcomes of this supposed death. I see it going in two ways...

1. The normal boring way, they find a loophole and she keeps living a normal life. It seems like the easy way out. I'm sure the author would make this happen in the most suspenseful way, but I somehow expect more from Rachel Vincent. I expect something... shocking, and extraordinary. So that leads me to route number two...

2. Kaylee dies, and she becomes a reaper. This would complicate things SO much. For one, she has made this deal with Sabine that once her body is cold and dead she has Kaylee's blessing to be with Nash (her body technically would be cold and dead, though she is still living so that would make for a set of interesting repercussions). Another thing is Tod. Maybe if she dies and becomes a reaper I will get MY love story line that would involve Tod. Nash just sucks! Tod is the way to go! And he has the hots for Kaylee, and she does too a little (though she wouldn't admit it), and I just want to see HIM in the love spotlight for a change. Leave Nash with Sabine for all I care. Imagine him, being Kay's tutor, helping her like Nash could never really help her... It could so happen. Another thing this would bring is that well, we would be off the whole high school scenario, unless she manages to die with no one noticing and she continues with her normal life, sort of normal kid by day and crazy reaper ninja at night.

Then again, this is only my imagination going crazy, it might not even happen, but imagine if it did... I would so give the book a 5 star rating.

Anyways, I just wanted to ramble for a bit about my latest read and share my wild theories. Has anybody read this book? Will this happen? Will it not? What do you think about this outcome I have come up with? It has fan fiction potential...

Super Fantastic News: J. K. Rowling's Writing a New Book!!

Info:
“Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world,” Ms. Rowling said in a statement. “The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life.”

About damn freaking time! It will be an adult book, but really, Harry Potter wasn't a kiddie book... I can't believe she is even writing more at all! She is like a multi millionaire, she doesn't need to move a finger, she can basically take a bath in money. But I love her for continuing her career. Woman, you are my role model.

Be real, who ISN'T waiting for this? Now for something funny...

It certainly got real...

Cover Reveal! Defiance by C. J. Redwine

Hardcover, 416 pages
Expected publication: August 28th 2012
by Balzer + Bray

Details:
Within the walls of Baalboden, beneath the shadow of the city’s brutal leader, Rachel Adams has a secret. While other girls sew dresses, host dinner parties, and obey their male Protectors, Rachel knows how to survive in the wilderness and deftly wield a sword. When her father, Jared, fails to return from a courier mission and is declared dead, the Commander assigns Rachel a new Protector, her father’s apprentice, Logan—the same boy Rachel declared her love for two years ago, and the same boy who handed her heart right back to her. Left with nothing but fierce belief in her father’s survival, Rachel decides to escape and find him herself. But treason against the Commander carries a heavy price, and what awaits her in the Wasteland could destroy her.
At nineteen, Logan McEntire is many things. Orphan. Outcast. Inventor. As apprentice to the city’s top courier, Logan is focused on learning his trade so he can escape the tyranny of Baalboden. But his plan never included being responsible for his mentor’s impulsive daughter. Logan is determined to protect her, but when his escape plan goes wrong and Rachel pays the price, he realizes he has more at stake than disappointing Jared.
As Rachel and Logan battle their way through the Wasteland, stalked by a monster that can’t be killed and an army of assassins out for blood, they discover romance, heartbreak, and a truth that will incite a war decades in the making.
This sounds... different, and interesting, and definitely kick ass. And with a cover like that? There's few people who would pass this baby up! I can't wait to get a copy myself!

Do you like the cover? The summary? Did this book make your wishlist?

Review: My Soul to Steal (Soul Screamers #4) by Rachel Vincent

Title: My Soul to Steal
Author: Rachel Vincent
Series: Soul Screamers
Book #: 4
Pages: 343
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating:
Goodreads Rating: 4.16
Published: Jan 04, 2011
by Harlequin

Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can't just pretend nothing happened. But "complicated" doesn't even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.

See, Sabine isn't just an ordinary girl. She's a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people's fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

And Sabine isn't above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

Taschima's POV:

POSSIBLE SPOILERS OF THE PREVIOUS BOOKS IN THE SERIES.
READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

My Soul to Steal by Rachel Vincent was pure DRAMA. The last book ended on a very strong note, having our heroine break up with the main love interest out of completely fair terms (mainly he broke her trust by letting a demon take possession of her body and then the first time that that happened things in the bedroom went a bit too far out of our heroine's comfort zone... yeah I'd be breaking up him with, along with breaking his nose and some other pretty interesting anatomical parts of his body) but then on this book Rachel Vincent brings a special character to ruin the "healing" process of our main character's relationship post break up-  an ex girlfriend of Nate named Sabine (one of the many, but one who seemed to have a GREAT impact in his life)who is a walking nightmare. And so we spent more than half the novel seeing the bickering between the two exes, Nate professing his love for Kay, Tod appearing at totally weird intervals (with different personalities at one point), and Emma, well, being Emma which means being totally oblivious to the horror going on around her. But you know for what this makes? A completely entertaining filler to the story. I finished it in a day and since I already have the next one in my possession, If I Die, I think I'm going to head right along and start reading it.

This book is a solid 4 star, interesting, a good addition to the series, but not spectacular. Hopefully the next one, If I Die, will give us something to really scream about.

PS; Kaylee's powers still don't impress me, but man can this girl be clever. I like her cause she is feisty and smart but with incredibly lame powers. Which is why I want to know why exactly Avari (Hellion of Greed) wants her so badly...

The Hunger Games: Safe and Sound Music Video Preview!!!!

You hear that? It's a million fans screaming in frustration... Just as the title says, a preview of the video to be released on February 13th on MTV at 7:54 PM!!

I think Taylor actually seems younger here... I love the scene they choose, trees, gray, dead forest. I can't wait to see the rest of it! I really like the song, it's terrific.

PUT YOUR DVR'S TO RECORD PEOPLE! You really don't wanna miss this one!

Review: My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent

Title: My Soul to Keep
Author: Rachel Vincent
Series: Soul Screamers
Book #: 3
Pages: 296
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: .5
Goodreads Rating: 4.12
Published: June. 01, 2010
by Harlequin

Kaylee has one addiction: her very hot, very popular boyfriend, Nash. A banshee like Kaylee, Nash understands her like no one else. Nothing can come between them.
Until something does.

"Demon breath." No, not the toothpaste-challenged kind. The Netherworld kind. The kind that really "can" kill you. Somehow the super-addictive substance has made its way to the human world. But how? Kaylee and Nash have to cut off the source and protect their friends--one of whom is already hooked.
And so is someone else...
Taschima's POV:

This book was iiinteresting!! I never thought Nash, oh so perfect and boring Nash, would do anything remotely close to what he did. More than that, I never thought the author would take such risks and go there. I am so freaking into this series now, and I can't wait to pick up book #4. All because now I know the author isn't afraid to take risks, and that makes for a freaking interesting ride.

Kaylee, oh Kaylee. I am proud of you girl, but not everything is up to you to fix. Freaking hero complex. Now I have so many questions, because there was some development to her abilities that wasn't completely covered, and the devil seems to want her, and I don't know why. Tod isn't in this book so much, though he is an integral part in the end. I was sad because of that, he is my fav. We see Addi again, and we meet some new characters. We are also re introduced to Demon's Breathe, who seems to be the problem in this book, and you won't even believe who gets addicted to it. Draaama!
